Not at all.
For a ranger to do their best DPS, they have to fit their CAs between their auto attacks, being careful not to delay the auto attack from occurring.
Currently, you can "eyeball" it based on animation/chatbox info and gut feeling. Some folks put audio timers into ACT for the auto attack damage so they constantly hear a 'ding' sound every time auto attack hits, giving them a slight edge so they know when an auto attack just hit.
To give an example on why it is important. As a non-raiding ranger, I averaged about 500 dps just from auto attack. Since my bow was around a 4 second delay, that means my average auto attack damage was 2000. My DPS would fall by a decent amount if I delayed each auto attack by just 1 second.
Timing CAs between auto attacks is something every ranger learns as they level up, and especially if they get into raiding. It is required to get all of their DPS potential.
However, it isn't just for rangers anymore. With the longer delay weapons becoming available, it is becoming more and more relevant to anyone who uses those longer and longer delay weapons. A 9 second bow and a 9 second sword would do the same damage, all else being equal.
