Default Classic/Original UI

I started playing EQ2 again and noticed that the original UI from when the game came out is gone. I personally like it more and would love to see it make a reappearance. Tried to search the forums and couldn't find anything.

I remember seeing this come up somewhat recently (2-3 months ago maybe), but I can't seem to find the thread(s) containing the discussion.

In any event, I'm pretty sure the general consensus on the topic is there's no way to revert back to that phase of the default UI.

FetishClassic was based off the original UI graphics and will be returning as soon as SOE finishes implementing ColorStyles. I maintaned that set for a long time but it ultimaetly became to much effort keeping it in sink with FetishNightfall.

An industrious person could take the graphics and FetishStyles file from Classic, apply them to Nightfall, then do a bunch of find/replace routines to change the text colors from Nightfall blue/purple to Classic yellows.

I've been doing just that but I don't use the entire Fetish set but rather a mixture of various other pieces including some default. I had started with FC as a foundation and use FNF as a monthly update process while changing all references to "88CCFF" to "F0D080". One thing to note though is that FC uses "F0D040" which is a darker yellow, while I use the lighter yellow that the default UI uses for window titles and such.

Since my entire set is a mix-and-match Frankenstein UI I hadn't bothered to publish it for others to use.

Best advice is to use FC as a starting point, update individual pieces using FNF and use Notepad++ to change all references to the textcolors in one single shot.

Yikes, sounds like a ton of work.

At any rate I'd love to see this redone if possible. I would do it myself however am horrible at making UIs. Further I loved the original UI so much I would almost pay to see it come back in one form or another.

I mean just look at this pure awesomeness (attached jpg):

It's not all that bad to do it yourself. Here's what I would suggest if you were to consider that:

1. Install FetishClassic v8.1
2. Update any files that are newer in FetishNightfall v9.5
3. Open all files in your updated custom directory with Notepad++ and use the Find function to Replace all references to 88CCFF with F0D080 all in one shot.
4. Save and Test

Shouldn't take you more than an hour tops.

Having said that, I've been doing this with each update so the work load has been minimized so there might be a bit more to it than that but at least that should get you started on the right track.

I'd actually consider doing that myself but my time is rather limited at the moment so it's something that I'd have to consider for down the road if need be.

Is it possible to take the default UI (standard one that ships with RoK) and replace those files with F0D080? To be honest I don't like the layout of the Fetish UIs. Nightfall or otherwise. I'd like to stick to the basic one with the exception of the inventory window shown in that screenshot above. Granted it's outdated (notice the shard area haha)! But I would like to remove that portion and add in charm/cloak slots. How much work will that really involve? I don't mind attempting it if it's as easy as your saying!

Thanks for the input thus far.

Well, the files for the Original UI no longer exist. If someone just happened to have them you would need to make all code changes that have occured for each file since it had stopped being used. Now that's a lot of work and would probably take you longer than leveling a fresh character to 70.

Keep in mind that FetichClassic contains all the necessary graphic changes and the F0D080 change that I speak of is just to remove any traces of Blue text and nothing more.

Unfortunately, with what you are asking I would have to say that at this point, it's nil impossible. Sorry.

EDIT: Actually, what you could do is to just re-skin the Default UI files using the FetishClassic graphics but I really don't know how to do that. There are others besides Zonx what could probably explain how but other than that I wouldn't be of much help.

Right! Reskinning would work with me. Although I would love the inventory to match up to the one above it's something I could live without. I also do infact have the original UI files also (they come with the original EQ release CDs). But like I had mentioned before I would be willing to DONATE to someone who is already familiar with these kinds of modifications.
