Default Getting Profit to work with Beta

Is there a way to do it?

I copied everything over but the game keeps loading the horrible default UI

Remember that you have to edit eq2.ini or copy the one from your game installation folder down into the BetaServer folder. Also, you'll have to copy the UI/ProfitUI folder to BetaServer/UI/ProfitUI. If you copied everything, that should've taken care of that. Also check eq2_recent.ini in BetaServer and make sure it has "cl_ui_skinname ProfitUI" and not "cl_ui_skinname Default" in it, sometimes the patcher will muck that up.

Bear in mind that I haven't fired up Profit in beta yet. There's version checks done on the UI, and sometimes SOE updates the version numbers for UI components in ways that make the game consider a custom UI incompatible. When that happens the game drops back to the default UI. It's usually fixed by updating the corresponding version numbers in the Profit files, but until I get a chance to fire it up and check I won't know for sure what's going on. I'll probably get an initial chance to do that this weekend. Basically, since this is the first time any of these changes have been visible to anyone outside SOE, you should expect glitches and problems with custom UIs. It may happen faster if the changes are small, but right now my timeline for updating Profit is to have candidate versions of the files posted to the forum here around the beginning of November.

The ToV update will include a change to eq2.ini that might help. Apparently the order of the cl_ui_subdir and cl_ui_skinname entries makes a difference, and putting cl_ui_subdir first fixes some problems (the current eq2.ini on the updater has cl_ui_skinname first).

Default Key is switching the order of the two lines in the eq2.ini.

Order is important for both Beta AND latest production EQ2. AND, if you run updater, it will want to update the EQ2.ini file back to the wrong order. Just did it to check, then had to re-edit the file.

Right. I put eq2.ini on the ignore list because I've got other customizations in it (eg. the setting to make the ACT parse the browser's default home page). The fix will be in the ToV release.
