Default browser option possible?

Hello, I was curious if it is possible to tweak a setting to make the in game links that go to like wiki and Zam open in my REAL browser instead of the ingame one...

The reason i ask is ive now TWICE gotten adware/malware fake antivirus things on my computer *one from ZAM and one from EQ2I wiki* using the in game browser as it does not have the options my firefox does for noscript and the ads on the site wanna install em occasionally *these 2 instances happened about 3 months apart.*

originally i thought it was a fluke with Zam and stopped going to ZAM ingame and felt safe with EQ2i wiki but after today getting it from EQ2i i'm paranoid to use the in game browser at all..

if there isn't a way to set the links to open in a real browser window then can someone tell me if there is some security UI plugin i can download for the in game browser similar to noscript? or maybe a way to disable JUST the links to the websites on the quests? i LOVE the ease of clicking the links and as long as they are there i'm VERY likely to click em without thinking and i am getting sick of removing malware and adware every 3 months

thanks for the help I LOVE Profit ui i couldn't play my mystic without those lovely click to cure buttons for status ailments :-D

To my knowledge not possible, as I do not know of any way for the EQ2 application to launch a browser. Best I can suggest is to make an account and log in to EQ2i (eq2.wikia.com), then you'll never see an ad if you stay away from the front page.

Not saying you didn't get it from eq2i but I go there all the time and (knock on wood) have never got that dreaded thing. IDK about ZAM and I can't recall the last time I went there.

both times it only happened while i was on EQ2 while viewing the websites.

For the Zam i was looking up information on some quests on the isle of mara and when loading a page for ZAM my game got a bit lagged then next thing i know one of those fake antivirus programs popped up in the bottom right corner and my computer went all screwy.

only thing i had running was EQ2 and Teamspeak

then just today a few months after the ZAM thing im lookin up on EQ2i ingame at the page for Ravenscale Repository for information and i get some 3D Error thing in the in game browser *again only thing outside of antivirus and system files running was Teamspeak and EQ2* and my game is unavailable to click anything in till i click ok on that error from the in game brower... and boom another Fake antivirus...

personally i am 100% sure in my mind both cases came from an AD being loaded on the sites in question and im sure they have no control over it, but its still annoying even if it only happens every few months it is a PAIN to get rid of

is there a way to disable JUST the links on the quests if i cant fix the security of the in game browser? im VERY likely to click em without thinking when doing quests ive come acustom to having them there for ease of quest and zone and item info...

You can disable the links by just deleting the files for the windows that have links.

And yes, there are ads that do that. The ads are not directly controlled by sites like EQ2i or probably even Zam, but instead served by an ad network. Malicious ones that like sneak in unfortunately, and as you've said the in-game browser lacks the ability to make yourself safe like you can with full browsers.

The ads usually get pulled relatively fast, but at least in the case of EQ2i you can avoid most of the ads anyway.
