Group, Player, and raid (healer, mage, dirge)
I downlaoded the addon and followed instructions for installing addon posted on this site and made eq2.ini file as well.
Made a folder named Scottsui in my UI folder , extracted the addon into the scottsui folder. Then went to eq2 directory and made eq2.ini file and typed the following into it.
cl_ui_skinname scottsui
cl_ui_subdir UI/
Started eq2 logged warden on and saw no change to self target window. Logged out and restarted Eq2 and still nothing. I've even flipped the 2 lines around as some suggested still notta.
cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname scottsui
Now in the addon description i saw this....
There are several batch files included in the download. Put them in the same custom ui folder as the xml files. They (the batch files) copy the appropriate xml file to the proper name that eq2 will utilize. EQ2_Default.bat removes any group or player ui so that you revert to the eq2 default ui's. EQ2 won't pick up the changed ui's until you either restart from desktop or use the /loadui command. Be warned that using /loadui can mess up hotbars and secondary chat windows. To make your life easier you can right click any of the bat files and create shortcut then place the shortcuts somewhere easy to find and use (like your desktop)
If you have a vista box (default for vista users tends to be read/execute), you will have to make sure that the user has modify/write permissions on the folder where the UI files are stored so that the batch file can create the appropriate files when you run it.
...... but to be entirely honest ( and its prob jsut casue im not very technical) im just not sure what that all means about batch files and and putting them in the same custom ui folder as teh xml fiels etc etc.
If anyone could shed some light on this would highly appreciate it.
BTW my OS is Windows Vista but i had no problem creating the eq2.ini file as mentioned in install instructions for this site.

Maybe, but you did not even say which addon you are posting about? But sounds like you just need to run some batch file... (click it)

the title of the post is the title of the addon word for word from the download list under compilations.
Ahh ok so look in the addon file for a batch file and then run/execute it?? Great i will give this a try thanks!
This is not a flame, i know that the games were designed and programmed differently but i see a lot of people having issues with custom interfaces/addons and just wished that Sony made it as simple to get addons as wow does. In WoW all you have to do is drop your addon file into your addons folder and BAM its good to go. And they have in game management of your addons to boot.
P.S. I just started playing EQ2 again after a roughly 4 year layoff and just started using this site maybe 4/5 days ago. GM9 i've seen you helping a lot of people on these forums even in the short time that i've been using this site and just wanted to say thanks for your time and effort in helping people figure this stuff out.

Sorry I don't know every UI on here by heart, next time simply place a link to the mod you ask about in your post, that's easiest for everybody. And yes, looking it that mod simply extract everything into your scottsui folder and then double click the batch file named after the class you play, that's all.

While i've got your attention .
Since im new to the whole EQ2 addon system regarding the making of the addon folder i.e. Bobsui or whatever name you use do you put all the addons into that folder or do you make a new folder for each different addon you want to use and then make more eq2.ini (script?) files with the cl_skinname Bobui etc etc ?

Only one folder where you put all your mods.
The ProfitUI autoupdater installs and updates everything automatically, yes. It's in my sig because it's my mod, but I recently "retired" from it. You'll still get community supplied patches and updates through the updater though, currently Chrislau is keeping it up to date.

Yes i went to your link and checked out the install notes guess i should have come back and deleted my post sorry about that.
However I read the install instructions and saw that there were a few cases where you might have to delete certain interface files/folders to get profit ui optimized.
My question is if i download and instal Profit UI Reborn and say for whatever reason i dont like it or im having problems how hard is it goign to be to uninstall it or deactivate it? I really dont want to have an issue where i have to reinstall the whole game again becasue patching takes forever. If i delete certain UI files or scripts as noted will EQ2 reload them or recreate them if it finds them missing when you launch the game??

When EQ2 loads a custom UI, any files NOT included in that UI folder are drawn from the default. So if you don't like a particular window in a set, delete that file and you'll use the default.
And yes EQ2's interface is different than WoW. Apples and oranges. A well-formatted UI is pretty much drag and drop, however. For example, Fetish Nightfall -- if extracted to the proper directory (the main EQ2 directory) it takes care of everything for you.
