Default Crashing

I seem to be crashing right after I use the wiki link from the quest journal, was wondering if anyone else was having this issue. Also any idea how to fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem.. if you use the in game link to wiki or Zam which opens the ingame browser window... it sometimes (not always) causes the game to crash... just happened two times in a row tonight...

I have not been able to reproduce this issue. Did you notice anything in particular about the circumstances.

its random... sometimes you click the in game link and then you get a EQ2 client crash message and the game closes to desktop. After the game crashed twice in a row on me, it didn't do it again that evening.. but i did use the in game browser a few more times. It only happens when using the in game browser...

I have had this issue occur many times. Mostly it occurs when visiting eq2wki and haven't had it occur with zam. Wiki uses some advertisng companys that have thrown security messages many times when using firefox and ie8 and I basically stopped using that sight unless zam didn't have the info I was seeking.

The error occurs in xul.dll and that dll is dated 2007 when looking in your eq2 folder. I have pointed out to rothgar that the 2007 dll does indeed cause a lot of crashes under windows 7 because windows 7 requires a later copy so I installed the 2010 release of firefox and copied the dll into eq2 folder. I also noticed after this the crashes are fewer but still do happen when various adverts are displayed.

Greetings,

I am getting this issue on two of my PC's all of a sudden... I have been using wiki for a long time and this has only started happening over the last month or so...

Is there going to be a fix for this any time soon?

I have had this happening at least once or twice a day, and I had been thinking something was wrong with my Windows 7 install. It does happen at random times, and there isn't any one thing causing it. Sometimes it happens on the wiki link, other times on zam. However, if I resort to opening a regular browser window in the background like I did before I installed ProfitUI, the browser itself is fine (I'm using IE 8), and there are no crashes.

To add to this, I have had Spybot's TeaTimer resident protection installed on my computer and have been using this for years. I was getting some random directx crashes whenever I opened a link on the questhelper also, but those stopped when I uninstalled Spybot.

I hope this can be fixed soon, because the questhelper links are one of the big draws for me using this UI and I really do love it.

I have had this happening to me on winXP and Win7. It only occurs on eq2wikia, never with ZAM or google.

It seems like it has something to do with the adverts in wikia

If that is the case, I suggest creating an account on EQ2i and logging in on the in-game browser. That should prevent ads from showing up except on the main page.
