Crash on startup of EQ2

Just as I start EQ2, and my UI is being formed, the default, initial windows appear on my EQ2 screen. Just before my own windows and panes settle in, EQ2 crashes and I'm thrown out to my Windows desktop, no EQ2 to be seen. I've run the latest updater, & deleted the 'playerhousing' xml file, as suggested.

To trouble-shoot this, I'd like to remove ProfitUI Reborn to see if I can start up EQ2, then I'll re-install once that's satisfied. How do I uninstall ProfitUI Reborn?

BTW, is there any way to save my UI settings (locations, sizes)?

Yes, I've read the FAQ, but it is a bit cryptic at times...assumes I know more than I do.

Yes, a clean install is what I would have recommended anyway. Instructions on that are in the FAQ and also linked in my sig (red line ).

PS: If there are particular FAQ items you think need clarification please let me know.

To uninstall, just go into the eq2.ini file in your EQ2 program directory and change the cl_ui_skinname from ProfitUI to Default. That'll make EQ2 ignore Profit and use the default UI instead. If you want Profit gone completely while checking, just delete the UI/ProfitUI folder.

For saving UI settings, the files are in the EQ2 program directory with names like server_character_eq2_uisettings.ini. The game saves your UI settings to them automatically when you camp out of a character. You can import another character's UI settings into the current one with the /load_uisettings command, and if you want backups you can copy the settings files somewhere safe.

Ok I have a very similar problem. The game will load default UI no problem. As soon as I put the ini file back in I get as far as the screen that says I am entering the game then it crashes. This is a completely fresh reformatt and install of EQ2 and profit. I've read thru all the faqs and deleted the two files that needed deleted. I, for the life of me, cannot figure this out. I have been running profit for years and love the interface. if I cant get it back in the game just wont be the same.

Make a clean install of the current version of ProfitUI (which contains no files that need deleting).

Ok now that is wierd. I did use the newest update of Profit with the same results. I used an old mod "Fantasy" got it all setup then went back and deleted it and put in profit and it worked. Thanks for the help. I much appreciate it.

Ok one last question. I got everything working in Profit except my window that shows me. It has the money, exp, guild exp acheivment along with health and mana bars. I still have an old style window that just shows my name with health and mana. How can I restore the one that goes with profit?

If you are using the Auto Updater do you have files on ignore? Because you seem to be missing at least the XP window.

ok ran the updater and it downloaded a player file BUT its the old style that just shows your name and health and mana bar. What is the name of that file specifically? Is that the mainhud_player file and if so which folder does profit read it from? Profit folder or default folder

all of ProfitUI resides in \UI\ProfitUI and its subfolders. The file you are looking for is eq2ui_mainhud_experience.xml

ok now we are progressing LOL. Got the window up but no numbers or letters in it. just the icons for everything and the bars for health and mana but nothing in them and no name.
