LoginData files
I'm trying to add my UserID, password, character names, and server to the _ProfitUI_LoginData.txt file but its blank when I open it in notepad. There's another file called _ProfitUI_LoginData that has the data I remember, but when I edit it and then try to save it, it doesn't let me saying the file already exists and it won't override it. I just upgraded my computer and the only real thing that has changed is that I now use Windows Vista vs. Windows XP. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, and if anyone knows the solution to this, please post step by step instructions as I don't know much about .xml and UI stuff except installing Profit. Thanks.

There are currently two files, a _ProfitUI_LoginData.txt.xml, which is empty and there by mistake (you can delete it) and a _ProfitUI_LoginData.txt which is the one with your data in it. If you cannot edit it that likely means that you have set it to read only. Right click the file, select properties and remove the read only flag, save your edited file and then make it read only again so it does not get accidentally overwritten on the next update.

Okay, I deleted the empty file, but it still won't let me save the .txt file with my info in it. The file was never marked as "read only". Here's the error message I get when I tell it to save...
"Cannot create the C:/Program Files (x86)/Sony/EverQuest II/UI/ProfitUI/_ProfitUI_LoginData.txt file.
Make sure that the path and file name are correct."

You are using Vista and are not allowed to write into the /program files folders without admin rights. Start your editor as administrator (right click).

You need to right-click on the icon for your editor program and use the "run as administrator" option. Right-clicking on the file won't give you the option to start the editor as administrator, I'm afraid. Where your editor program is, I'm afraid, depends on which editor you're using.

when i edit it with my login, pw etc. , i canīt see the chars in the quick login window.
Why?
Can you post an example for the correct edit?
It would be very nice.

An example is already included in the default file, you should at least see CHARACTERNAME (SERVER) or something like that. There's also an example in the FAQ.
