Default UI Switcher Help

I am new to all of this, so I will try to articulate what I am doing as clearly as possible. First off, I like using different UI's for different characters and I have admired all your work on EQ and EQ2. Here's my situation/issue:

1) I have four characters and would like to use a different UI for each.
2) I have downloaded and extracted the UI Switcher to my EQ2 directory.
3) Currently I have two custom UI's from this website plus the default
4) I have researched this thread plus elsewhere to ensure I was being thorough before submitting this post.
5) I am computer literate and have built my own systems but this part of computers I have dealt little with so please be patient.

All the UI's I currently have are listed in the bottom windows. When I click on my character then "blood..." such and such for my UI and then click on the little arrow to assign it to that character it will ususally assign that UI to all of my characters. Now, I have followed your directions on switching to the letter and it has gotten quite frustrating. I have tried it with the check mark included and removed from the "Use..such and such defaults" with no good results. I know there is a flaw in my approach somewhere, I just cannot pinpoint what it is.

My goal: to load EQ2 with one character having on UI and then switch to another with a different UI. Do I have to set up my UI in game first and then assign it to a character in the Switcher? Not sure. Any assitance you could provide would be appreciated.

Thank you

I think I need to rewrite that part of the instructions. The assign buttons don't assign a UI to a character, they assign the window placement/size last set by that chracter to the UI.

Let me try to give you an example. Let's say I have 4 characers, Adakud, Adrasteia, Anaitis, and Ophis. I also have 4 UIs, BlackMarble, Fetish Nightfall, Kithicor, and Tablets II. I want to set up each character so that they can use a different UI, but I also want to make sure that my windows show up correctly based on the UI I select, regardless of which charater I acually load into the game as.

I load UISwitcher, set BlackMarble as my selected UI, login as Adakud, and set my windows the way I want them. I now exit EQ2 and reload UISwitcher. In the UIS Files Manager I assign Adakud's UIS File to BlackMarble. Now, whenever I load BlackMarble the window positions/sizes I set as Adakud will be applied no matter which character I load in as.

I load UISwitcher again, set Fetish Nghtfall as my selected UI, login as Adrasteia, and set my windows the way I want them. I exit EQ2 and reload UISwitcher. In the UIS File Manager I assign Adrasteia's UIS File to Fetish Nightfall. Now, whenever I load Fetish Nightfall the window positions/sizes I just set as Adrasteia wil be applied no matter which character I load as.

I repeat the process for Anaitis/Kithicor and Ophis/Tablets II.

Now whenever I run UISwitcher, regardless of which of my 4 UIs I select, my windows will show up in the right position/size no matter which character I select once I load EQ2.

Unfortunately, without opening some serious security holes I can't turn UISwitcher into character selection utility that will associate a UI with a character, so unless/until that changes I'm forced to associate window size/placement with the UI and make it character independant.

Edit: Please note that you will not be able to simply camp to character select, load a new character, and ave a different UI applied. You must camp to desktop, load UISwitcher, change the selectd UI, and reload into EQ2. I'm afrad there's no way around that at the moment.

Default Much Thanks..

Thanks for the description because I realized I was expecting one thiing from the switcher when it was built for something else. I got spoiled with EQ and just being able to assign a UI and let it lay with that. Tha fact I can even apply some custom UI' s at this point is much appreciated.

I will put what you said to use. Have a good day.

Default UIswitcher help

Hi, i have UIswitcher and for some reason I get double letter in the auto start settings box as well as the other clickable button boxes. My decktop settings are default at 96dpi not set to 120dpi as i have heard mentioned that to can be a issue. Anyone out there know how to fix this? I uploaded a jpg screen shot of the issue.

Thanks in advance
