Default problems installing

we got a new computer and I downloaded the program and installed it. even though it is there on my desktop and i can update it, when I play the game the maps arent there

Do you have an eq2.ini file in your root EQ2 directory pointing to the folder containing the map files? I'm not 100% sure if the updater automatically creates one if it doesn't detect one or not, but just a thought.

Also, are you also using a custom UI? If so, the folder containing the map files should be in your custom UI's folder.

i searched for the eq2.ini file and nothing came up and I have the default UI

You must have selected your EQ2 directory incorrectly then. The EQ2MAP updater creates an eq2.ini if you don't already have one.

When you open the updater, what does it say next to "UI Directory:"?
