Im a illu and when i mezz a lot of different targets i somethimes lose count of what mezz timer belongs to what mob (because mobs have the same name in the maintained window).
It would be very nice to have a countdown timer above the mob you mezzed.
I have found two UI's that if combined could be this UI
1. proxyactor. This UI places stuff above targeted players.
2. mother countdown timer. this is a countdown timer who can be started with a macro.
I hope somebody can look in to this because i think if its possible it could be of great help to all mezzers and debuffers
That's a really cool idea but I don't think it's possible the way the Dynamic Data works in the UI. The remaining time for a buff does show up in the maintained window but I don't think there's any way to connect that information to the proxyactor.
The data just looks like:
GameData.Maintained.Spell_1.Duration
but thats why i mentioned the mothers countdown timer UI.
So when you start to mezz a mob you also start a countdown with this UI and link this countdown to above the mobs. If i understand correct the mother countdown time has nothing to do with the maintained window and so maybe be useble.
As far as I know, the proxyactor only works for the targetted mob. When you're mezzing you are usually switching your targets fast and often (at least I do). Since you cannot display a timer on a per-mob basis it won't really help you to see that one of your mezzes is running out. Also, while you can start the timer, you cannot automatically stop it when mezz breaks or is resisted.
So, as Othesus said, without the proper DynamicData we cannot reasonably put this function in.
Could this idea be applied to root spells? When rooting and nuking you don't jump to new mobs as often.
Yes, but we still can't stop it automatically when root breaks or is resisted. And with just a single mob you should not have a problem with keeping the root timer in the maintained window in view.
I think the real problem with getting this to work in the proxyactor is that there isn't any way to put different information above the head of different mobs. How do you identify each mob?
Are you sure the proxy actor is just for the targeted mob? I have my eq2 set up to show health and power of each mob in the encouter if I have it targeted or not. I've always thought that was the proxy actor but have never played with that file.
Strangely that function never worked for me even if I turn it on in the options. If it works for you, I guess that must be the proxyactor, but I only have passing knowledge of that one as well.
hehe, well I didn't say it always worked , but when it does it's nice. Somtimes I get 1 or two none targeted that shows up other times they all do. It's a crap shoot if it works or not.
