UI bug going around?

ok I looked and no one had anything on this... tried the eq2 forum and they told me to come here...

loaded up eq2 yesterday at 5am and my ui was fine... came back around noon and it was reset back to the default eq2 one... I tried re-installing it and checked my eq2.ini file and it points to the right file...

any ideas on how to fix it?
(runnin a mix of parts... mostly mother's)

I've been having my character's ini file getting reset a few times, but I just /load_uisettings and I'm on my way.

I had the same issue...around the same time. tried /loadui and a few other things..then starting having crash issues when joining groups\raids. Ultimately...I spent until 1am reinstalling eq2 so I could play today.

seems like its only some UI's that are doing it... profit, fetish and a couple others are showing up... so I guess I am switching to one of them till SOE figures out what is goin on

This is what I was confused about from your original post on the EQ2 boards:

Are you unable to get your custom UI back, at all?

If so then that's not the same issue that is going around and sounds like a deeper problem. Unfortunately I have no advice on that type or problem and hopefully someone here might be able to help.

If you are able to get your custom UI back then yes it's an SOE bug that needs to be addressed on their end. Until they fix it you can either import your settings from another character (via /load_uisettings or manually via explorer) or you can reset the UI manually from scratch. I highly recommend the later as the other two options (especially the use of the slash command) haven't yielded such great results.

It has been suggested that the /load_uisettings command is causing corruption in the ini file and that manually using an older copy might work but there’s no guarantee that the copied file isn’t already corrupt. I know it’s a PITA but resetting from scratch has worked the best so far for the majority of players.

This is not just a custom UI problem. I had the same issues around the same times, both with UI resetting and the group crashes / falling trough world. I do NOT use a custom UI at this time, in fact came here hoping it would solve the SOE bug.

Also, while playing the game, the recent.ini file is reverting back to previous settings. I have certain keys mapped. Then all of a suudden, while in game, non zoning.. they are reset back to previous settings.

I haven't had problems with the recent.ini file but the keymaps are stored in a separate folder with different ini files for each setup. There's a workaround for the keymaps resetting that can be found on the EQ2 boards but it doesn't work for everyone, especially if you have an international keyboard. This particular problem has been around since May 2006 when they introduced the slash commands for saving and loading custom keymaps. It's about time that they finally get around to fixing this issue but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Note that the same thread that has the work around for the keymaps also contains instructions on creating and loading custom recent.ini files (further down the thread) that might help with your resetting issue.
