Default loading delay

My friend and I have been having a wierd problem when using any custom UIs where when we start up the game, it will show our desktop for about 45seconds to 1 minute then finally load up the game into the intro company logos. But when we load the game using the default UI it is fine.
Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem is?

Thanks,
Nerv

I think the more custom files you have to load, the longer it takes to load them into memory. Many of the custom files are quite larger than the default ones. If I am incorrect I appologize in advance.

Sounds like you may need to beef up your computer(s) a bit. I don't think its an issue with any of the UIs you are trying to use, as the game generally doesn't check for that information until after all the loading/advertisement screens go by.

DEFRAG!!

UI's are loaded at the very start, any time you see any thing it involves the UI. ( well not the patcher :P )

Fragmented drive is the cause of alto of the lag you get in-game after zoning and while zoning. IF you have under 2G of ram EQ2 will cache like ( OK I won't go there) but it cashes a lot with low ram systems. I've stated defragging once a week or more because it tones down some of the lag/choppy video for me.

Again I could be totally wrong about the caching but it helps me to defrag.

Our systems are 64 bit AMDs with 2gigs of ram and geforce 6800GTs, it's not the system, it's the UI files. Defrag isn't the problem either since I defrag my system every couple of weeks. Honestly, defragging never seemed to make a huge difference for me, but I do it out of habit. Any other ideas of why this may be occuring?

How fast is the harddrive and how large? My harddrive is 10,000 RPM other is 7200 RPM. I do see a bit a difference on load times initially. But I still feel it has to do with what custom files you are using. But I am stubborn that way

BTW, it takes about 25-27 seconds for me to get to the loading zone screen from pressing PLAY. I use a lot of custom files. That seems long to me, but I think others are seeing longer load times.

Default files..I load in under 12 seconds.

My hard drive is 7200 rpm. As stated in the original post, when we load up the game with the default UI it loads instantly to the logos, with the UI files loading it takes anywhere from 45 seconds to a full minute to load. I'm not sure why the UI does this, but we were wondering if the issue had occured previously and there was some sort of fix for it.
