Default Skills Window updates?

I am using a few different ui pieces and only problem i am having is that I can't get my skills window to work properly. I prefer it to look like the way SOE has it by default now but I have to use default ui in order to do so. Plus using that one my skills numbers look like 122/13... and that doesn't help much. I don't know if i need a more up to date eq2ui.xml file but the only ones that i have seen out there are before they made the update to the skills window.... I wish i could get the lajest <sp?> of making uis because i'd prolly revamp a skills window to my liking and upload it. Anyone know of a very easy UIBuilder guide anywhere? I think to some degree i understand the uiBuilder but lol I hate that you can only see one object at a time as you adjust it, And i can't figure out how to mod objects like changeing colors and shapes other than making squares and rectangles lol. I know that this maight be under the wrong section so move it if need be... All help will be greatly apprciated!

You will want to either remove or update your custom eq2ui_mainhud_skills.xml to get your skills window to look like the new updated one released in live update 11.

A compare from the old files to the new ones can be found here:
http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=3467

Guides on the UI Builder can be found in the XML Modification Help & Info forum and information on how to modifiy the graphics can be found in the DDS/Graphics Modification Help & Info forum. Start out makeing very small changes and try to learn something new each day, if your new to programing your progression will be slow to start.

Question

I have the Fetish Nightfall UI. I updated the necessary files as suggested in other threads. I can now see the skill window even though it doesn't match the rest of the UI.

But now I have noticed something ... my harvesting skills are not present.

Anyone notice the significant decrease in skills? Was that part of the update? Did I do something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Nolorrainna, an update to FetishNightfall was released the same day the Skill patch went live. If you download and install the update, you're skills window will match the rest of the UI.

And yes, the patch notes from SOE stated they removed all skills from the skill list that automaticlly increase with your lvl (a bad change IMO). This includes things like Armor, Magic Affinity, Shields, Weapon use, and Spell/Skill mastery.

Skills have also been split into catagorized tabs with subcatagories. Harvesting skills can be found under the Tradeskill tab.

Default Skill Window

I am also having this problem of the skills window not showing the skills. I also just have various downloaded UI pieces, but I do NOT have a custom eq2ui_mainhud_skills.xml in my UI. I searched my system and the only eq2ui_mainhud_skills.xml is the one under UI\Default, and looking at it, it appears to be the new one. Is there any other information on this problem or how to fix it (without ditching my whole custom UI)?

Thx.

Feffer, I found that the default skills window is referencing several pieces from the journal window. Therefore if you have an altered journal window those changes will make their way over to the default skills window.
Are you using an altered journal mod?
I'm getting ready to update my UI to have the "fixed" skills window.
I'll post the skills window here as an attachment so you can try it.
Basically all I did was change the reference in the skills window to reference the actual item they required rather than referencing the journal window.

Just place in your custom UI folder. (If it doesn't work for some reason just delete it)
Let me know how it turns out.

Thanks for the quick reply Faetyl. Yes, I'm using Milquetowst Quest Journal UI atm because I can't stand that up-down default look. I'll give the file you uploaded a quick try.

Faetyl the skills.xml you provided had no effect for me. Just for grins i gave Jaxel's journal a shot (since it had file date after the skill window change), but it also had the problem. I also, removed my eq2ui_journals_quest.xml file, but my skills still didn't show up. So maybe there is even more crossover? Guess i can remove my UI and start adding it back one at a time and test each time. What a pain that will be. Odd thing is, I know the text for my skills are there because I get the mouseover descriptions when i move the mouse over the window. It's like black text on a blackground or something.

Update to this. I removed the eq2ui.xml file from my custom ui folder and i can now see my skills. However (since i don't really understand how all these file interact with each other) i don't know what affect this will have on the rest of my custom ui files. I know right away that by doing this the Fetish Persona bar 3.3 stopped working. I checked the journal and that seemed to still be working. Might play with the eq2ui.xml file to see if i can find the happy medium, if there is one (cause i like that fetish bar-- probably more than the skills window ;-) Just wish i understood more about all this.

*UPDATE* to the update. I've got this all working (i think). I copied the eq2ui.xml from UI\Default and added back the Fetish required include and now it all works.
