Need some help with EQ2UIBuilder
Hello all. First of all, let me say this... This is my first post, and actually I just found the website yesterday. When I saw the plethora of goodies and info, I registered immediately. There is some amazing stuff here! I've never customized my EQ (played since launch), nor EQ2, but when I saw a post in the EQ2 forums about a stat window for speed buffs, I wanted it...and here I am.
After browsing through here for the past two days (and downloading a LOT of customizations that I want to tryout ), I decided I would try some customizing on my own. I unzipped the EQ2UIBuilder, made a folder under the UIfolder, added the eq2.ini file in the root, and full of anticipation, clicked the EQ2UIBuilder.exe.... nothing. I tried again, nothing. I re-unzipped and tried again, still nothing. I read the manual, found the Phipps’s Guide to EverQuest II UIBuilder on this site and read it, and searched these forums for a possible reason, all to no avail.
The only thing that happens when I click on the .exe file is the creation of a new text file in the EQ2UIBuilder directory named memleaks.txt with the following text:
Application name: D:\XX - GAMES\EVERQUEST II\UIBUILDER\EQ2UIBUILDER.EXE
unknown(0x00524D8C) : 0113F980 memory leak, 8 bytes
unknown(0x00524D8C) : 0113F9A0 memory leak, 8 bytes
unknown(0x00524D8C) : 01298400 memory leak, 8 bytes
unknown(0x00524D8C) : 012A26D0 memory leak, 8 bytes
Nothing else happens - no error message, no system crash, no BSoD, no program.
Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong here, and what I can do to correct it?
Thanks for a GREAT site and all of the hard work you all have done thus far.

HEELLLLPPPP! Doesn't anyone have any ideas about my problem here?
I've read just about everything I can find, but nothing discusses install problems with EQ2UIBuilder. Are there some system requirements that I've missed, or is this truly a unique problem that is restricted to just my machine?
I can usually solve puter problems without much ado, but this really has me stumped.

Have you tried deleting the zip file and redownloading it from the patcher? Not the best suggestion but all I could come up with

I have, and I attempted installing into different directories also. I thought maybe my file was corrupt, so I downloaded the one here, but same thing happens...nothing.
Thanks though.

if you've done this just ignore me - but make sure you are clicking on the EQ2UI.xml file once in the builder to open your UI - you MUST click that file to load your UI in the builder or nothing will happen

The problem is before that...EQ2UIBuilder won't even open. I click on the .exe file, a memleaks.txt file is created, and nothing else happens. The program itself won't load.

UMMM, I just had a thought (VERY dangerous!)... Is EQ2UIBuilder compatible with Windows 98 2nd Edition, or is it made for WinXP only? My main bit the dust on me a while back (burned up a new P4 top-end processor through my own stupidity), and I've been using my backup which has the aforementioned Win98. Could this be the problem?

Bah - sorry I missunderstood your problem - I have read some other peoples comments about Win98 causing problems - that could well be it

Well nuts. I guess I'm stuck with attempting to decipher the xml directly. I wanted to learn it anyway, but not just this instant. I really thought one of you gurus would know something about this problem, but looks like I was wrong.
Thanks to those of you who tried.

Yes, that is the problem. UIBuilder doesn't work on Windows 98 or ME. Haven't checked on 2000.

UIBuilder works great on Win2k Server
I very rarely see any mem leaks with the newer version that includes splitterbars.

Thanks for checking that. I guess I'll just use some mods from here and start learning XML until I get my main with WinXP back up and running.
