Default ProfitUI changes for GU68

GU68 has some UI changes that weren't visible on Test:

- Small changes in the persona window related to heroic characters and mercenaries being available as account features rather than part of AoD. Shouldn't be any functional problems until I get the fixes made.

- Some graphics-file changes that I need to check after work. I don't expect functional problems, but newly-introduced graphics for new buttons won't be visible. I'll have a better idea after I've been able to look at the old and new graphics files side-by-side.

Not sure if this is covered in the things you are checking but the option to upgrade characters to heroic is not available on the character select screen.

No, that option isn't available on the character select screen in the default UI. It's only available in-game or from the new character creation screen (which Profit doesn't modify).

Correction here, since I just logged in and saw it: the option is available on the character select screen, but it's in part of the screen that's not controlled by the UI (hence why there weren't any changes to the character select screen). The reason the icons look like they aren't present is that they require graphics elements that're only in the updated graphics files which aren't on the updater yet. See my post with the attached zipfile with the new graphics files for the default color scheme.

Attached is the zipfile with the updates for Profit for GU68. I only did the graphics files for the default skin, the remainder will follow this weekend when I have time. The way they did them I have to hand-edit most of the files, so it's a long slog (no simple copy-and-paste overlay this time). I also want to clean things up a bit, once I've seen how it looks in-game.

I'm not sure about the persona window yet. It looks like they've got the heroic-character upgrade/unlock icon present and it may be on all the time if your character is below level 85. If it is and there's a way to upgrade characters elsewhere, I may remove the icon again. It'll depend on exactly how it behaves, so for the moment it's there and should behave the same way it does in the default UI.

The files have been sent off to the updater, they should be available there tomorrow. This zipfile is strictly for those who can't wait.

The update with the new graphics elements for alternate color skins is on it's way to Kaldran to post on the updater. It's also got a clean-up to the quest journal's daily objective page to fix the formatting for the timer and title and make a couple things look a bit better.

The graphics still use the default appearance for the new items. At some point I intend to go back and fix the new buttons to look like Profit, adjust color schemes on the new indicators to match Profit (silver/grey instead of gold) and so on. Functionality, as usual, trumps minor grumps about border color.

As of LU 68, for a fresh install the first two lines in the eq2.ini file which currently read:
cl_ui_skinname ProfitUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/

have to be swapped to read:
cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname ProfitUI

or the game will just load the default ui.

For future downloads, you may want to edit the master eq2.ini file that the updater grabs and installs on the client machine.

They shouldn't need switched. Note that there's a bug in the game client which results in the values for those two entries in eq2_recent.ini overriding the eq2.ini setting. Merely deleting the entries from eq2_recent.ini isn't enough to correct this, the value for cl_ui_skinname has to actually be changed to ProfitUI to fix things.

I'll experiment with swapping the order to see if that really does work around the client bug. If it does I'll issue an update, otherwise I'll change eq2.ini the next time I have to do a regular update.

Default Release candidate 3

Attached is the release candidate (default color scheme) for ToV. I got the default persona window working correctly, or at least I'm pretty sure I did. This upload's also got the couple of graphics updates that came in, so all the new elements will render correctly. The other color schemes are done and will be available immediately, but for size reasons I can't include them here. The ToV_rc3.zip archive is set up for unzipping into your BetaServer/UI/ProfitUI folder after copying it down from the live UI/ProfitUI folder. Let it overwrite files and you should be set. It also contains a "_eq2ui_mainhud_persona (large)" folder with the large variant of the persona window for ToV for people who prefer it. Just copy the eq2ui_mainhud_persona.xml file from the large-variant folder up into the ProfitUI folder and you're set.

I'm also attaching a copy of the eq2.ini file that'll go out with ToV with the cl_ui_subdir and cl_ui_skinname entries in the correct order to get things loaded correctly. Just unzip the eq2.zip archive to get the eq2.ini file (I can't upload a .ini file directly).

Sorry, but the small variant's being dropped for the moment. With the more complex scripting it's got fighting with SOE's hardcoding and the changes to the merc window I just can't fit everything into that small a space and make everything work correctly. I haven't deleted the files from my working copy nor removed the variant completely, just set it in the updater so it won't download anything and made it clear it's not working. I may come back to it, but it's going to involve reworking the row template for the merc window (SOE's, which the default and large variants use, just eats up too much space to fit in the tiny area available here) which means adding another file to maintain to the other variants as well.
