A Strange Stone Wedge
Examining "a dull wedge", a LORE NO TRADE NO VALUE item that is randomly dropped
in a chest in the Commonlands (I got mine from a random Bloodskull warrior, then
found another on a tortured soul), gives you this quest.
The first step is to kill Sandstone Giants (1397, -36, -171, in the canyons outside
Fallen Gate) and gather 5 living whetstones (quest dings) from them. Then you
need to inspect the axe again.
Next step is to head to the Mariner's Dock, and then swim straight out there to
around -1050, -148.20, -830, and if you tab a bit you should target "a
pirate/raider/cleric of gunthak". The pirates are the one you want. At the time
of writing this (Jan 16th, 2005), it's possible to aggro the pirates with a long
range spell and then fight with you on the surface, and them on the seabed. This
will probably be fixed with a z-axis fix later, so you'll probably NEED a
cleric's waterbreath spell or a Water Stone for this part. After killing 6
pirates, and taking their peg legs (quest dings), inspect the axe again to
receive the next step.
You need to gather 5 leathery elephant hides, which are quest dings off of any
elephants. Not elephant calfs, though. The ones around the Dog Pond (-1042, -48,
-245) work fine.
Once you gain all 5 hides, inspect the dull wedge one last time, and you shall
receive:
Chickenbane
ATTUNEABLE
+2agi +1str +4health +4power
Dual Wield
3-9 damage at level 17
1.2 sec delay
Skill: Axe 60-85
Weight: 2.0
A Ring's Calling
Examining "The Ring of Valmarr", a LORE NO TRADE item that is randomly dropped
in a chest in the Commonlands (I got mine from a Monitor Behemoth, but accounts
of it dropping from just about anything are floating around), gives you this
quest.
The first step is to explore the Ruins of Valmarr, find a certain tower, and run
to the top for a location quest ding. The tower can be located at roughly 518.57, -48.04, 189.13. It's the one that has 2 Fallen Crusaders, level 15-17 aggro skellies,
outside. It is very possible to just run in, run to the top, run back down, and
flee with Sprint without death, but it's a lot safer to kill/get someone else to
kill the guards first.
After you get that step done, inspect the Ring of Valmarr again to get the next
step, which is to kill an unnamed amount of the Fallen Crusaders. The number is
actually somewhere between 14-20. You have a choice here, you can either fight
the ones around the Ruins of Valmarr, or you can cheat and head down into
Thieve's Way, and head to the Den of the Darkblade Assassins (-111.30, 0.18,
166.26). Just past the door, there's an undead spawn, either Corruptors or
Fallen Crusaders. These ones count towards your total, and are much lower in
level.
Once that step is complete, inspect the ring once more to receive the:
Awakened Ring of Valmarr
ATTUNEABLE
+2sta +3wis +6health +9power
Skill: Magic Affinity, 70-100
Slot: Ring
Weight: 0.5
