Default Is there anyway to have your pet auto-assist you?

I was wondering if there is a way to have your pet auto-assist.

For example.
You target mob 'X'.
You begin attacking mob 'X'.
--
Instead of having to command your pet to attack, it just assists you on whatever mob you are currently attacking.

Is this possible, or am I stuck with having to order my pet to attack everytime?

Make a macro and stick it on the hot bar is the only way. I put mine for grouping:

/pet Attack
/g Assisting %t

As far as I know, the only way to get your pet to attack without manually ordering it is to get hit, which doesn't work out too well for most pet users.

And for rangers, the pet has to get hit for it to attack :P

Ugh, Alrighty, thanks for the help. I already have a macro set up to do that, but thanks.

I'm going to /feedback with the suggestion to have the option to have pets auto-attack -- I think I remember them having that in EQ1..
