Mouse wheel zooms very slowly now, not sure how to fix it

Sorry if this is super basic, but my mouse wheel started zooming really slowly. Dont know why. It's a new mouse, I adjusted the zoom in control panels which is helpful outside of EQ2. When it zoomed super slow in EQ2, I thought I could just adjust this in control panels and it'd act normally again, but that's not working. Have tried everything, don't know how to fix this. Would be so grateful for any pointers. thanks!
