I am getting this error when trying to use the installer. I have made sure I have .net 2 and even added .net 3.5 in case but still the same error. I am on Windows XP. Thanks in advance for your help

System.IO.IOException: Cannot create "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\TestServer\EverQuest2.exe" because a file or directory with the same name already exists.

To install to "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\TestServer\" then the file everquest2.exe must exist in the "TestServer\" folder, as my installer uses its location for pathing. You must choose this install path when doing the initial install as it is not the default.

It will create a DBsMod folder under the folder "TestServer\" and look for the UI folder to create a DeaDBeaTs folder under "TestServer" as well.

The easiest way to use my mod on test or beta servers is to simply copy a working eq2.ini and ~\DeaDBeaTs folder into the same folders under "TestServer\".

I downloaded your installer/updater, thinking this sounded pretty simple:

Quote:
Installation:
Download and install the autoupdater.

Run it.

All done
First, it tells me I have to download .NET Framework, and I'm taken to a site which redirects me to another site (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/net...aa731542.aspx), and I'm not sure which download I'm supposed to choose, so I pick the x86 version under the "NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package" heading.

Then to install Net Framework, I'm told I need Microsoft Windows Installer 3.0. In order to download that, I'm told I need to install the Genuine Windows Validation Component.

How many applications am I going to have to download and install before I get to your UI????

...and if that's not bad enough .NET 3.0 is coming.

All of those are updates for Windows XP from Microsoft and with the exception of the .NET framework should have already been updated.

I suggest you rerun Microsoft Update to make sure you have all the latest patches and fixes for XP that are available.

My updates notes on 11/29/06 state that my updater is .NET 2.0 compliant.

I recently did a complete re-install, and the InfoCenter has seemingly disappeared. At least I no longer see the button near the clock, next to the Stat Strip, Combat Strip and Browser buttons.

I've made sure I have the latest installer. Deleted the GeeZers folders, and even deleted my individual character UI.INI files (after making back ups, of course). To no avail.

I removed the modified Infocenter from my mod and have gone browser based.

One of the tabs in the new browser automatically loads the web based version which can be accessed here -->
DeaDBeaT's Web Infocenter

The traditional Infocenter might return but when I went through it I realized there were MANY mistakes and missing updates in my modified version. Honestly maintaining the Infocenter took as much time as the entire rest of the mod.

I am currently leaning more towards a strip-downed version and am very open to what should be included.

(Sorry didn't mean to get long-winded )

Right click on the extreme left edge for the menu, it's there just hard to find. Sundays update will make this a bit easier to find.

Default Scroll no longer works on the Collections Tab, Quest Journal

DeaD, your interface is a godsend. *Everything* I always wanted in an interface - outstanding!

This just started happening with all my characters after the last LU. Not certain the problem is w/ this interface, but I suspect it is. The scroll bar displays in this tab, but I am unable to interact with the slider. It's just not 'selectable'. I push the 'envelope', so to speak, as I run at 1920x1600 resolution - could this be why? Center scroll bar works fine on the Quests tab in the same tool, btw.

Also, here's a consideration . . . after a recent LU, I loved it when got a red 'X' by my name when I was under attack. Is that something which is easy to implement?

Default A few things I have encountered.

I love your UI. Best out there for me by far. I have noticed a few things while using it.

1. Back button on browser does not function.
2. UP/DOWN button on browser does not work. (only sometimes)
3. Trying to drag the browser window open to full size cause an EQ client crash.
4. Can't find Mystic spells on the infocenter Tab.
5. Is there any way to make the little ? button on the chat boxes to disappear?
6. The "Share this Quest" button is not anchored, it moves around when resizing
the Quest Journal.

Thanks for an awesome UI.

Krisla: Is this a new install?

I was able to recreate your error and am guessing it's a pathing error.

The installer looks in your registry for the Everquest install location and if it can't find it assumes the default which is 'C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II'. I noticed your install is on your 'H:' drive.

To correct this we need to add your install location into the registry:

Create a new text file and copy\paste the following into it, make sure to add your install location where I highlighted the text.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Everquest2.exe]
@="c:\\program files\\sony\\everquest II"
"Path"="C:\\Program Files\\Sony\\Everquest II"
Save and close the file then rename it eq2Path.reg.

Now double click to enter it into your registry.

Re-run the installer.

Let me know if this fixes it.

Default another little thing

As I posted before I absolutely love this UI, I can't seem to bring myself to use anything else!

But I found another little boo boo for you. When you create a character and choose where they will start the map is missing a few icons as well as the ability to choose TD for evil aligned characters no matter what race they are. I had to start my defiler in Neriak and actually run my butt all the way to Gorowyn Just thought I would point it out for fixin later on

Thanks!

Cannot use the new mannequins. The code was added in the default UI to eq2ui_playerhousing.xml.

Unless I'm completely mistaken that is by design, you can't do that with the Default UI either. Not all races can start in Gorowyn (only Sarnak and Neutral).

Default Dual Broker Window?

I just wanted to say I love your UI.

I am wondering if you thought about making the Broker Window show both tabs similar to the Profit UI. It makes selling easier without having to go back and forth while searching and selling items.

Also, is there a way to make the examine window show the price you would get from selling the item to a vendor. I had previously used one in WoW that showed it on the tooltip.

Thanks again for a great mod.

Let me get the last few kinks worked out that I've found after yesterday's update and I will take a look at the market window.

Glad you like the UI
