Car transmission swap shops in So-Cal?
Well....this is possibly about as far off topic as it gets anyway, i was just wondering if anyone knew of any reasonably priced shops in southern california that will do auto to manual transmission swaps for a 1993 nissan 240sx. MY transmission is dieing , and i figured i might as well throw a manual in instead of another POS automatic. i know there are shops out there that do this(i found one) but i was hoping someone else in the area might know other places that would do this.
oh, and heres a picture of my car, if anyone cares(haha!)

I live in San Diego, and a couple of my friends work in car shops and whatnot. Not sure if any of them do tranny swaps, but I'll ask around. I'll let you know if I find anything out.
I won't be able to find out till Monday, since I don't have phone numbers, so it'll be Monday night or so when I get the information to you.

I talked to someone, and she said that her company does do transmission swaps, but she doesn't know the price. I coulnd't remember what kind of car, so hopefully I'll run into her later so I can tell her.
She said she would ask around at work to find out some prices. I'll let you know tomorrow afternoon.

I've given her a week, and she still has yet to give me the information back.
I've given up on her, so just go ahead and call whoever. I doubt it would have been that great of a price anyway...

not to start an x is better than x thing going, but is there a reason you want to go manual? From a monetary perspective, its super expensive, and from a performance perspective not that big a boost. At least not when you can get several retooled automatics made for high horsepower / high torque with full manual drive bodies.

Well, he said his transmission is dying so he's going to need to replace it anyway, and I would assume a manual is cheaper than an automatic (just because the new cars are..I don't know for a fact since I don't do a whole lot with cars). However, I could be wrong.
My car has a triptronic transmission (automatic and manual in one) so I can use it as a manual or an automatic depending on what I want. Regardless, my car has a ton of torque and horsepower (99' Honda Prelude VTEC Type SH) so I don't notice that big a difference from acceleration in automatic to manual.
