override folder?

im curious whether theres a folder or another way to override certain images from the assetlib.vpk library with different images

id really like to replace certain files from within the cooked\ui\ folder with other .tga files.

since its the \ui\ folder after all, i figured i should find those images embedded somewhere in the UI xml files, but, surprise surprise, they arent. at least not in those for us accessible xml files :X

so... the images i want to override are not mentioned in the UI\default\ folder at all...

any ideas? :/
