Can't resize Chat window in Horizontal direction

I can find and click on the 'move' square, and I can move the chat window and resize it in the vertical direction, but I can't seem to get it to allow me to make it smaller (or larger for that matter) in the horizontal direction. I want to make room for the spinner on the hotbar stack, since I use a 'foreign' set of hotbars that autohide unless engaged, and the spinner sticks out . If it can't be done, I could make the hotkeys smaller but I'm about at my vision limit now .
