no icons on in game map?

I am having a problem getting the icons to actually show on my ingame map.I am running windows xp sp2 have all the latest .net frameworks installed i have tried uninstalling and installing several times and i cant get the icons to show on my map?The update and everything downloads ok,goes to the right folder,but when i load up eq2 nothing just the standard map...no other interfaces installed...anyone know whats going on here?Now i have even reinstalled eq2 and then the updater same problem....no icons
