Custom Keyboard Option problems

I'm so frustrated I could spit roots! Due to various problems with my hands, using a custom keyboard layout is pretty much mandatory. I have gone into the options and time and time again changed that dang keyboard to what I want it to be, saved it and such, only to come back to find it has reverted to the former one as soon as I camped. I have done it multiple times to the individual character as well as using the option in the character select window. I just want to change my keyboard. That's all.

I know you all are making bigger, better, more high falutin UIs, but can anyone please tell me how to just do my little keyboard customization please?
