Updatable Journal/Notepad

I thought I could use the in game browser to update a .txt file using Notepad. It doesn't work. I can surf to my hard drive and open the .txt file, but it opens in read only mode.

Is there a way to get the system to open a text or word file for update? I changed authority to the file I wanted to use to let "everyone" use it, but that didn't work.

Is this a problem in my firewall?

I can update the file through my browser outside of the game, but the in game browser won't give a workable object.
