Default Installation Problems

The "Sticky" at the top of this forum for Installation Instructions leads me to Instructions which does not tell you to do anything but extract the zip file into your /Everquest II folder.

I extracted it into my Everquest II folder and now I have an extracted folder of the UI in my main EQ2 directory which doesn't appear to do anything. I restarted EQ2 and it now has the default UI.

Where are the real instructions?

Also "The first time you install ProfitUI, you will also need to download this file for the background images of the persona window, otherwise you will see a white box. "

What do I do with this file?

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

I can't write instructions I am not aware of. Where can I find out how to install this? I'm assuming thousands of other people have it installed...

The precise way you unzip the file depends on the unzipping software you use. What do you use?

Most programs that I use have two different methods. One is usually called "Extract to (folder name)" which creates a folder with the same name as the zip file and puts everything in there. That is not the method you should use. A second method is usually called "Extract Here" which just dumps everything into the current folder. That is what you want to do.

After extracting the files you should see in your Everquest II folder an eq2.ini file, a ProfitUI Readme.txt file, four .opt files, and a few ProfitUI_resolution_eq2_uisettings.ini files. In your UI folder you should have a folder called ProfitUI with a ton of .xml files, .txt files, .zip files, and folders called fonts, images, and infocenter.

How's that?

As it says on the download page you get to when following the link:

extract to your \Everquest II directory
If you keep having trouble with unzipping, you may want to give the auto-updating version of ProfitUI a try (link in my sig).

Yes I extracted the folder to my \Everquest II directory. Specifically:
C:\Games\Sony\EverQuest II

The folder is there now and it is extracted. I guess I am using the regular extractor that comes with XP.

Also this is the link to the file I downloaded:
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...tUIReborn.html

I thought maybe I have to extract it in the C:\Games\Sony\EverQuest II\UI folder but that didn't work either. Anyways I have to be missing something... I was never asked to overwrite any files. Possibly I need to use a different extractor?

Aye. Must be the extractor I checked the directory structures of the unzipped files and it does match the EQ2 directories but did not install inside the corrosponding folders. Ill drag the files over manually and see if it works. Thanks for input guys
