Default Guild Bank Guidelines

I have never posted before, but I read religiously to mine for the wealth of knowledge provided by all that contribute to EQ2Interface.

In my search I have not come across this feature and I think it adds value, so here it goes.

I am an officer in a guild assigned the duties of maintaining the guild bank and posting guidelines on our website. I thought it would be great if some text could be included in the tabs and slots of GB1-4 to assist guildies in what belongs where and how to get what you want from who.

I use FetishNightFall (Zonx is a GOD) and I thought the InfoCenter Notes section was a good example of what I would like to have. Click on GB1 Tab and next to the bank slots is a sidebar of text pulled from gb1_notes.txt where I decide what I want to appear.

If I could get the text to appear by bank access permissions, that would be even better. If you dont have access to GB1, the text is pulled from gb1_noaccess_notes.txt vs. the gb1_access_notes.txt. This allows you to display text about how to gain access via status or tell to an officer, etc.

I dont know if the dynamic data allows for coin vs. item permissions and if that would complicate things, but the guidelines for those situations are different enough that it would be helpful to have text notes to reflect those conditions. Ranks in other words.

I dont really have a strong opinion of where the text needs to appear, left side, right side, bottom, etc. I like the idea of left side because I arrange my bags on the right side of the screen and guild bank to the left of them.

I would like to keep the dialog box to about 32 characters wide or less to keep it small enough to manage on the screen with bags. Lenght of dialog would be scrollable along the length edge of the guild bank dialog.

Help from any of the contributing developers is appreciated. You all do great work. I tried my hand at UIBuilder for a couple days and gave up.

Since Zonx has announced some much deserved time off, I hope someone can take his guild bank component as the start of this experiment.

Cheers

Just double checking-- you know that you would only see these notes if you were using this UI mod? You would have to require everyone in your guild to use this same mod. Then when you changed your notes file, you would have to make sure everyone in the guild downloaded and installed the new notes.

The easiest solution for labeling the guild banks is to just label some cheap bags and put them in the corner of each bank.

I did consider the UI has to be on each PC to provide the benefit. It would not be mandatory, of course. We would suggest to our guild members who would like this guideline to download the add-on from our website.

I think the bag label idea is a great one and I will use it for the short term (thanks). However, the labels will not provide the flexibility I would like to have with a text panel. If you don't have permission for a bank or certain restrictions on withdrawls, I would have text such as:

"Status is only one key to bank transaction rights. Even though you may not have rights to withdrawl, your Rank may allow you to request items from the bank from the Bank Officer.

Check the Ranks section of the website for details on how to gain additional access rights and benefits."
