I dont use profit but i do have vista I just downloaded the latest update of profit ui and did a clean install of it with no problems or crashes. Perhaps a clean install of profit with out adding any other pieces will help you? If you find that works add your extra pieces if any 1 at a time till you find the source of your problems. Then let the author of that piece know of the error. Normally i find the ui or piece just doesnt load if theres a problem. Also if its been a while you may have forgotten that you added that one little piece. eq2 crashing generally seem to be hardware related *Not Always* But aside from the more obvious video card problems I have found memory problems to be a big one with eq2. If you have memory that is just starting to go bad perhaps you have more then 1 slot? 1 card or perhaps the slot have gone yet the other is fine... Eq2 can run fine at times and others not so fine till memory totally goes bad when your pc still appears to be running ok. This is because of the memory hog that eq2 can be, SOE wont tell you that, where as pc can require very little comparatively. I have made several mods and have only crashed eq2 once or twice while testing.

PS Also i just noticed you said you just installed vista. Windows xp or 2000 require far less memory to run then vista thats actually when i found out about my memory problem. EQ2 ran fine under xp started crashing after installing vista. See i had 4 memory banks and 1 was apparently bad yet memory tested ok with memtest86 until i tested them 1 at a time and found 30% of my third stick was bad. Replaced it and all has been fine since.

Vista is not a gaming os (or not much else, actually) so unless you have a pressing reason for vista, re-install XP and be happy that everything works. I am a computer consultant and make more damn money upgrading vista machines to xp that it is embarrasing.

The easy way out.

DX10 gaming is awesome. I know EQ2 isn't part of that scene, but to say Vista is totally useless isn't really true. Vista x64 with the right hardware kicks some butt. Just my 2cents
