Manually load new maps without updater

Is there a process for manually downloading and installing new maps without using the Updater? Or is the updater source available in github or another public repo?

There is a manual version of the EQ2MAP files.
But it is only updated on request, which is very rare.

Is there a way to get involved in the development of different projects? I have 30 years development experience. Recently retired. I have worked with C, C++, Java, NodeJS, and years ago worked with C# and Visual Basic.
