Default Noob UI questions

Got a couple of quick questions maybe someone will answer before I dive headlong into the custom UI pool?

1. Can I restrict the custom UI to specific characters and not others or is it account wide? I am thinking of the opportunity of testing them out on minor toons before I incorporate into my mains if possible.

2. I have seen certain issues arise for folk that use custom UI's when GU's have been downloaded. Is there a procedure I need to follow in order that I don't screw up my installation when UI updates are being introduced?

Thanks for any help in advance.

1. Nope. One custom UI per game installation (meaning you would need to have the game installed in 3 different directories for 3 different characters. Although, you could try a variation of the idea posted here (different .bat files for each character).

2. Some custom UIs may not function as they should after any updates SOE pushes out (usually only the major updates). Part of the joys of playing with custom UIs is having to wait for the author of any mods you use to update their code (then, of course, download new files they upload) in order for their work to play nice with the changes SOE rolls out.

Thx. In the meantime though how easy is it to revert back to the EQ2 UI?

Another question as well

Which UI is best suited for healers (if any)?.....I'm thinking easy targetting of group/raid members for curing/healing purposes.

All you have to do to revert back to the default UI is delete the eq2.ini file (which controls any custom UI designations) from your root EQ2 directory.

As far as the age-old question "What UI is best for <INSERT CLASS>?" goes, it's (in my opinion) a personal preference. There are some full UIs, as well as standalone mods, that offer 'click to cure' group windows (which allows you to simply click on a party member's name to cure any debuffs they may have). My suggestion would be to just take a look around and see which ones you think you'll enjoy using.

Default Group Window

Hello there,

i want the Profit UI Group window into my fetish cause of the cure options. Is there a way to do that ? i just copied now

eq2ui_mainhud_groupmembers.xml

from prophet to fetish ( made a backup ) but now i dont see any group members in the group window, not at all when i push f2 or something like that.

would be cool if someone has an answer how to get the group window with the cure option for each member into fetish. this should be the owner UI at all... i love fetish

thanks for reading / helping

Holymoly....

In response to your UI switching question look here
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3528
This still works, providing the UI author has provided a "skin info page" into the UI...

Undead, it's not entirely trivial to extract windows from my UI. You'll need to either integrate a load of my UI's files into Fetish or modify my window to get this to work. I'm still planning to provide a "ProfitUI Window Extraction Kit™" one day. Once I have the time™.

Anyway I thought Zonx had click-to-cure in Fetish?

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

there is a click to cure window yes, but the good in prophet ui is u have a cure under each group member so u can cure in a few seconds all members very easy if there is no shaman for group elemental for examble...

atm i use f2-f6 and a special cure hot bar heh

but ok then i have to wait a little bit maybe... my only problem in prophet is the spell bar, i used to make it small and from the left to the right of my window.. so i can see the buffs i always have running and then the combat buffs ( playing a templar, so i need to know when my reactives are off, and well there are buffs i cast on the mobs which run out after some minutes too)

at least sry for my english im german :P

thanks for all the help

Your English is fine, anyway I'm German as well.

However, I'm not sure I understand what the issue with the spell effects window is, but best explain this in the ProfitUI forums instead of further derailing this thread.
