Default POI trouble in [The Down Below]

Heh, wanted to spam a POI thread as well.

I was in The Down Below yesterday sneaking into Qeynos and wanted to check the map for the zone-in to SQ. To my surprise none of the zone-locs where showing (I had some other POIs though).

I checked the map online on the website and all information is still there. Comparing it to what I was seeing ingame showed that I was actually missing a whole lot of other POIs as well.

Possibly there is a problem with your proggy that creates the XMLs? (didn't check the XML to see whether the POIs where in there at all and just not visible or whether they missing completely).

And yes, EQ2map was up to date.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

I think you might have this problem...

Look at the POIs that are there. I think they're all for the Condemed Catacombs.

In Fetish at least, it's been doing that for probably 6 months now.

I think it's related to a recent update of the mainhud_map file or something.

Before it was updated to the same one fetish uses (I no longer get asked to overwrite) in Beta and on here using the default + EQ2MAP only, it worked fine. Afer I went back to Fetish, it started doing that again.

I don't see how this could have anything to do with the recent changes to MainHUD.Map. The EQ2Maps version of MainHUD_Map is basicly some initialization scripts, a couple base level objects and a buncha includes. The only change made was to the initialization script. Nothing concerning mapStyles or POIs was affected.

If Condemed Catacombs is showing rather than The Down Bellow, its more likely a problem with the support for multiple zones that share the same map. In theory the client should know when to load icons_qey_catacomb01.xml rather than icons_qey_catacomb01_.xml. In fact it should be referencing the page names within those files, not the file names. All of that is managed by the client, not EQ2Maps.

Anyways, the only thing in my map that could potentially mess up map loads is the menu plugins, which isn't included in the default EQ2Map setup and realy was only ever an issue in multi-map zones. FAICT, its virtually bug free now. Some problems can still come up due to timing or a very specific series of clicks and events.

Best way to test this... stuff includes for the icon files mentioned above into the icon layer of the default map. Also add a root level include for the core_mapstyles.xml. My guess is you'll see exactly the same problem.

this is a recent issue with the default map as well.

For some reason the Condemned Catacombs map is now being shown in the down below. I havnt been out to the condemned catacomes yet to see what is shown there.

This did work about a month ago. that was the last time i was in the down below.

yep, down below shows different map POI.

But more instances have POI bugs. Mouse over on some of the instance maps does not work. Runnyeye for instance.

This all happened to my UI when Fae update was installed, and new maps and ui was introduced.

Look for the thread on RV in here about the instance POI issue.

And I know Zonx, but thats the thing that confuses me. It worked fine in plain EQ2MAP and was broken in Fetish's EQ2MAP, until the default EQ2MAP file was updated and is now the same as Fetish's.

From what I understand, didn't SOE add unique instance identifiers to be used for multiple maps of the same zone?
