Default Of Chat boxes and fonts

Hi everyone!
I have been having a bit of trouble for awhile now and am hoping someone could asist me in fixing it.

I have 5 characters but it seems for awhile now when I log in on 2 of them I have no chat box and I miss all chat/text until I hit enter to activate the box. this has gone from scary to annoying to a downright pain in the butt. it doesn't seem to matter how I log in, from launcher from character select or from the shutdown menu. it Always happens and it ONLY happens on 2 of them. I was wondering if someone here could assist me in figuring out why it's doing that and possibly even fix it so it stops.

Also on a related note. I use Deathbanes Quickarial because it makes it easier to see the fonts throughout the game. I also edited it slightly so that chat is bolded that way I don't have to use as large a font and my chat window can be a bit smaller. but the last 3 times I have relogged in my chat is back to default I checked the eq2_fonts xml file and it seems to have overwritten the quickarial so everytime I log I need to add it in and edit it it again one the launcher has updated...again a PITA.
Is there any way to keep the game from over writing the file or have I placed it in the wrong location (/Everquest 2/UI/Default) and thats why it overwrites it.

I would really appreciate some input on this especially the chat box thing.

Thanks in advance

Lexi

The best way to correct your first problem is to delete the uisettings.ini files from the characters that are affected.

The second problem is indeed that you edited the wrong file. Everything in the Default folder gets overwritten by the patcher. You need to make a new folder, e.g. \UI\CustomUI, and place the edited file there. I believe you also need to copy eq2ui.xml from \Default into that folder.

Then create or edit eq2.ini in your \Everquest II folder so that it contains these two lines:
cl_ui_skinname CustomUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.
