Default mob health display

alright i went back a few pages... and i couldnt see anything on it.. but here's an idea...

i used to play WoW... and there's a lot of UI mods out there for WoW... one of which i thought was pretty nifty was this mob history mod... it was almost like a damage parser/loot recorder... when you were attacking the mob... based on the damage dealt (either using server info or just info from combat text) it was reading the mob's life out... using the percentages of damage dealt to it... like for instance...

i hit MOB for 20 damage... you see the mob's life go down 1 bubble, which equals 20%... use some simple math and you figure the mob has 100hp...

now what the mod does is it records the mob's info into a little database it uses, so next time when you fight the same mob that is the same level, it will display it's health in a total number rather than bar/percentage...

in addition it also took the average coin picked up off the mob and designated the average as the mob's worth... mostly used for farming purposes... but yeah... you get the idea...

Not possible within the EQ2 Ui itself.... But if you do a search for "Combat Stats Monitor" aka CSM then it does exactly that whilst running in the background..

Correct you are mistaken lol

It updates maps within your UI folder to be loaded up when you start the game...

And yes eq2 does support directx to the best of my knowlage..... But I wouldnt even know where to start with directx......

Anyways I dont see what is wrong with using CSM /shrug

That, and even if someone knows how to make directx stuff, it's illegal to add it to the game client... and anyways CSM doesn't tell you how much actual health points the mob has, it just calculates how much damage you have done to it. The program doesn't exactly know that the mob is a vulrich and is lvl19 so it has 120hp. Only way to get that info is from the mob server which the client can't fully access all that information....

Now if SoE were to add this as a option they would probably add a dynamicdata piece for it, and then allow a UI piece to access it to heck. If you really wanna see it part of hte game as a default so we can make ui pieces like that, I suggest /feedback it a couple times a month.

I don't like it when you hurt my brain like that. Use punctuation, capitals, and paragraphs. And don't suggest harassing the GMs, they'll ban you for that. -Deathbane27
