Default Minimap mod?

I'm new to the world of EQ2 mods, as after I played EQ2 in the very beginning, I left to WoW for about two years and now, after growing extremely bored of WoW, I returned to EQ2 to check it out...and I'm blown away by how far/advanced this game has become.

That said, in WoW, there is a minimap in which the terrain moves, but your arrow stays in the center, pointing in the direction you ar emoving. This is an excellent feature which EQ2 seems to lack. I have the EQ2MAP, + the mod that makes it smaller, however, that mod is somewhat flawed in that the map terrain doesn't move, but your arrow does, and when you reach the edges you scroll off the screen and have no idea where you are. The mapping software in Eq2 seems lacking...or am I simply not up to speed on configuring it properly?

Thanks for any help!

Not yet, but the developers have announced that they'll be adding some nifty new mapping thing and that a mini-map will be a part of it.

If I understand correctly, what you are hoping for is on the way.

To clarify (should that be necessary), Pooka refers to the EQ2 developers, not us modders. As far as I know the timing of when they are going to add this is entirely unknown however. Originally it was announced for the next expansion (November) but that was later taken back.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

It was taken back as a feature of the expansion, as it will also be available without the expansion. Similar to the Combat Revamp that went live with the DOF release but wasn't part of DOF.

That's true of course, but the timing was also separated from RoK and said to be likely later, which is what I meant. Scott Hartsman said:

The new EQ2 map system is a project that we have been working on in the background for the past few months. Since it will be replacing the existing map system in EQ2, it will release separately from the expansion, and will not be tied to this specific expansion's purchase. When the map system releases, it needs to be a feature available to all players.

We do not have a precise launch date for this live feature, but we will be talking more about it on the forums as it gets closer to being available on test server. We are currently not expecting all of the world to be re-mapped by the time Rise of Kunark launches.
