Kosmo's Quick Emotes v1.1
Submitted for release!
It's not even been 24 hours and I've already had 3 variations created on this mod! How flattering! Have fun with this one.
If you have any questions or need help for this mod, discuss it here.

One thing I was wondering... with the new emotes that are included, will other players who don't have this mod be able to see them?

Oh yes, totally. These are not new emotes, same ones we have always had.
Some of them were just not listed in the regular emotes page.
They work just great! Some have animations and some just say something like.
Kosmos grubbles at 'target'
I didn't 'make' these, just created a different way to arrange them, and use them that was more efficient than having to look through 11 pages at 10 emotes at a time in alphabetical order.

Oooh, I see ;-) Yea, the design and ordering is great, makes them much more accessible. I just thought there were a few custom made in there as well. Either way, thanks a lot! :-)

luv your emotes
the night you posted it i DL'd and installed it, nice mod.......
BUT i got the idea that it could do more.....
So i streched the box a bit and added one more column.... and cut and pasted lines and lines of your code, then started doing minimal modification..... and Voila'
A language selector list on my Emote page........
one ittsy bitsy problem.........
WORKING CODE........
OnPress="set_language=Common hide_window=(MainHUD.Socials) hide_window=(MainHUD.Socials)"
NON-WORKING CODE........
OnPress="set_language=Ayr'Dal hide_window=(MainHUD.Socials) hide_window=(MainHUD.Socials)"
Since all three of the elvish languages do NOT work and all the rest do.... i assume the ' in the middle of the name is the problem. What i dont know is how to fix it.

Not sure on that one, try parenthasis, or single quotes maybe around Ayr'Dal
Maybe even regular quotes? "Ary'Dal" or (Ary'Dal) or 'Ary'Dal'
Look for the OnEvent post in the XML modification section, will probably have the answer you need, or the post for Spaces with names.
EDIT: Good idea by the way! I knew a language selector would be comming up soon!

May also need to try escaping out the single quote, aka:
Ary\'Dal
etc.
<- dealing with that issue now with Java and database statements at work.

Great mod
Thanks for this great mod...
Any idea why the regular social window also opens at the same time with your window?
Also first time I log on, the emote window is displayed...

I'm glad you like it!
The regular emotes page is left functional in case you need to create macros.
If you check the directions. You will find I mention that you can make that window 100% transparent. What most people do is move it off screen except for one little bit, and make the thing 100% transparent. So that they do not see it when my emotes page comes up.
I may combine these two windows in the future, but right now it's low on my list of things to do.
As far as the window showing up when you first log on, not sure about that.
I wonder if something changed with the recent patch.? I think it saves it's state and posistion, so if you log off with the window up, it would probably still be up when log back in.

Thanks Kosmos...
I'm gonna check about the context saving upon logging out and will make more experiment...
Sorry I missed the tranparent window part
I was wondering if you did experiment scaling down the window a bit more...? to take a little bit less space...
My last comment is that I did not find how to configure the 2 modes you're mentioning - I use the default one where the window vanishes after selecting the emote...I read the README again and am not seeing how you configure the other mode...
Regards.

For the mode that does not Auto-Hide, you would need to download the Add-On patch file, and replace the file you have with the non-auto hide version you download. Its a simple cut and past, to overwrite the one you have.
As far as making the window smaller.
There is a good chane that I'll do this in the future. Yes.
The window is quite large! I play in 1600x1200, but made the window what I felt would be a good size for 1280x1024 to pop into the middle of the screen.
The background can be made transparent. So I didn't think it would bother people much to have it that size. I wanted it to be able to be quickly read and hit the emote and then window be gone, make it as smooth as possible.
it seems there are quite a few people that prefer to have the window up, and not blown away, so I may create a 'mini' quick emotes that can be kept up all the time, but... the text would have to be really, really small! so therefore harder to read, and would make the whole process of selecting the emote longer.
Perhaps you should check out one of the alternatives.
Ger has a really nice one that has the emotes tabbed and combines the two windows so you don't have two that pop up all the time, he also has one that does not blow away when you do the emote!
That might be more for your style.

Hi,
Just to confirm that everytime I log on, the emotes window is visible - independently of the previous context of the previous log off...
Oh and I like your mod better
The one am having is auto-hide

Funny thing happened....... after unzipping UIbuilder and playing around in it on some other files. I later noticed when I once again tried to tackle the Elvish name problem with my mod, that the UIBuilder had automaticaly made changes to the emote file in the form of.......
set_language=Ayr'Dal
Now if I can just find a similar one for a blank space.....
Guess I can try &spac; or may try the non-breaking HTML space

Cool, check the XML Mod thread for 'references names with spaces, lots of good info there!

UIBuilder will substitute HTML equivalences (usually ' and & ) but EQ2 won't convert them back. At least, not in the cases where it's done it to me.

yea, didnt work, back to the drawingboard..... lol this might be easier to get SoE just to rename the damn languages to one name no spaces. no characters, so we can code buttons for them.
if i ever get this fully working i'll post it as an update, but untill then i keep my bugs to myself lol.

Put it on the WISh list...!
The only other thing I can think of is try just using the first 3 letters. like "Ayr"
Lots of commands just need the first three letters.

Ok what am I doing wrong, I edit my MainHud file and add the line you say to add, it is in the Default folder though, and everytime the line gets deleted when I load up EQII (I suspect the game is patching in an update when the game sees it has ben altered). I tried putting your copy of the MainHud file into my mods folder, but I crash when I do that.....

Thanks Taco now what??

For this mod to work you must have the line <include>eq2ui_mainhud_emotes.xml</include> inside the eq2ui_mainhud.xml file. That is the only line that is required. So if you have other custom user interface mods, you can just textedit the file and include the new statement.
|
I found the eq2ui_mainhud.xml file, it was in the Default Folder, I used textedit and included the statement.
I load my Modded UI with the methods explained on this forum, have been for awhile now, I don't have to create a new folder in my UI folder as I already have one that I use for my mods, it is called MODS. There is NOT a folder in a folder there, and I unzip all the mods as explained here, in my modded folder "MODS" and select all the correct options.
MY mods work, all the ones I have installed to date but I CANNOT get this one to work. The only difference that this one has to the others is the edited eq2ui_mainhud.xml file.
