NPC Quest notifiers missing on MAP - please help

Hi all:

At some point last night all of the flashing quest notifiers on my map and minimap disappeared (the feathers & books). I can still see them over the NPCs they simply don't appear on either map anymore.

Does anyone know:
a) How do I get them back?
b) What would I have done to lose them in the first place (so I don't repeat it)

Any advice is appreciated.

Reinstalled MAP and deleted older ini files. Icons have reappeared.

you can toggle the questgiver icons in the game options window (Alt-O)
