Unable to access New Maps

Downloaded the new updater and ran it - no problems.

Logged in and got old maps. Checked my UI directory and saw 2 Directories - EQ2MAP(old stuff), EQ2MAP2(new stuff).

Typing M gets the old maps? Tried changing directory names and got nothing. How do you get M to work with the new maps? Is there a new command or what>

It also created a new Main-hud and labeled it 2. So I basically have 2 sets of eq2maps -- the old ones and the new ones but I can't access the new ones.

try Alt-O -> User Interface -> Map (at the bottom) and make sure "use new map system" is checked.

(the options may be worded slightly differently, this is from memory)

WHen that is turned on I get SOE's big ugly maps. I don't get EQ2maps.

I turned that off as I don't want SOE's maps - I hate their maps system. Are you telling me that I have to use SOE's maps?

Yes, eq2map uses sony's new maps. Just like eq2map used sony's small maps before the expansion. eq2map only adds maps for zones that sony doesn't provide a map and provides POI's for all zones.

You can resize the window if eq2map is installed correctly.

I prefer to use the old maps for the old areas-- I just fine the new maps too large and intrusive and prefer the tiny colored dots for POI than these great big new ugly things.

Is thee no way you can create older maps for the new world - SOE has really erred with their new, ugly, intrusive map system.

We like the new maps and won't support the old system anymore. Of course you can create maps in a style that you prefer and post them here as a mod to EQ2MAP.

How about bringing back those nice, SMALL, colored POIs for different things? That's missing in the new, unimproved maps.
