Default Notepad or personal journal?

Is there a way to make a personal journal for each character? Us old farts can't remember what we were doing the last time we played a particular char. and it would be nice to be able to record some notes.

Thanks for any ideas

As far as I know, there is no way to record notes in-game, but there are some things such as the Info Center that allows you keeps notes in TXT files that can show up in-game after logging in.

The only downfall is that you can't straight edit it while in-game. You can edit the text files themself anytime, but they won't update in-game until next complete log-out & log in.

Default Info Center Notes

If you do decide to use the Info Center Note option, make sure you use notepad or some non fancy word processor type program. I used MS Word and Info Center would not work. I saved it in .txt format, but no go. The entries must be straight text files, no formating and stuff.

It's possible to use the in-game browser as a note-taker. When it first came out I wrote some php code that would store the notes in a cookie (making them computer-specific) and had options to let you have multiple / many notes. If anyone's interested in that and has hosting of their own I can probably dig up the code.

Since I consider the in-game browser kind of slow (especially starting for the first time) I don't really use it. I'd still love an old eq-style /note.

old style in-game note taking is by writing it into your bio, or as notes on your friends/ignore list (bio is easier to read because you have several lines). Note that everybody can read your bio though.

If it does not work, you likely installed it incorrectly. Always try a clean install before reporting bugs.

Thanks for the replies,

We thought of the InfoCenter option but that defeats the idea of an in-game note.

The Bio page may be OK, I wish there was a way to make it non-readable to the rest of the world though.

Thanx again

Nice find. Google has something for just about everything

Now they just need their own operating system.
