Soloing Summoner Mod
I know there are a load of summoners out there who solo with their pets as the Main Tank.
I was wondering if any ambitious folks would be willing to make a "set" for pet-dependent folks (illusionists and summoners), that has a matching player / target / implied target / pet UI "group." I would happily sketch something up, but some of the modders here are so good, I wouldn't wanna even say anything before they took a shot at it. Thanks! |
I'm not trying to be silly or anything but how would this be different than placing the windows next to each other?
|
No, that's a perfectly good question.
I just reinstalled the game, and I have to say, the defaults UI for summoners is very undesirable. For instance: Every non-pet character can put their "most important" spells/abilities on a hotbar and use keystrokes to activate them. The Pet Window has those buttons hardcoded on to it, and you are forced to waste valuable screen space with them. Also, the default pet window has only a bar---it doesn't even have %, much less an actual HP count. The worst part for me is all the spell info for each target / implied target. Don't get me wrong--I love it. But it makes different levels of enemy a different size, and that keeps the window from appearing properly to me. If you know a good setup for a conj, I'd love to see it---but I've both a 70 conj and a 70 swashie, and the swash definitely has the better UI at the moment. |
Oh yeah...and the "aesthetic" thing that I really feel is missing...
Something that makes the target, implied target, player, and pet windows "mesh" somehow. And maybe some kind of "arcane / elemental" indicator to lemme know if I need to cure my pet. |

If you're looking for something specific it's best to ask for something specific. I don't play any summoners myself, but if we just try to guess what you're looking for we'll probably guess wrong. |

Well, they do look nice...
And I don't mean to criticize---it looks great. However, they are very small. My vision is likely not as good as yours. It isn't legal for me to drive without some seriously powerful corrective lenses. :) I like how the player, target, and implied target are all the same size. I'd want the pet one to match, though. I would want to see both power and HP% numbers a bit larger, along with a general size increase of all four windows. I like the way the pet's HP & power are displayed the best, though, and would basically want jumbo versions of that for all four windows, just with a % labeled rather largely as well (perhaps off to the side of the HP & power bars, since they would be increased). Thanks, this really looks great, I'd just wanna have it be bigger and slightly different for my poor eyes. :) |
I was wanting something kind of like this, only with clearer (sans-serif) fonts, and a matching pet window (that has no pet buttons)... but perhaps with a bit more in the way of a border.

Er, that last screenshot was from http://www.eq2interface.com/download...WindowSet.html

One of the several options for a pet window provided in the ThorUI

Just checking... how will you control your pet without pet window buttons?
That's your pet window, Faetyl? Your UI page shows a big scarab thing. Oh, maybe that's one of the options. I'd download it to check it out but I only use UI pieces so I don't normally use the auto-installing programs. |
I don't want pet buttons on the pet window because you can drag & drop them to a hotbar so you can just use 1, 2, ... 9, 0, -, =. I always do this because my wrists hurt from using the mouse.
Having a pet window with pet commands wastes space, since it could be elsewhere. Also, you can only use the mouse to click them. Further, anyone who has ever accidentally hit the "kill my pet" button at just the wrong time will understand how much you would want to put that command elsewhere. (And anyone who doesn't just use "expiation" as a conjuror...Or just re-click their pet spell...It seems unnecessary.) Having all my windows "match" to a certain degree...I would like that. That fancy-dancy window with all the extra buttons that I can only click with the mouse---It makes it TOO different. I'd want all "special" information to be off to one side (preferably the right side), such as % of HP or power, spell effects, and that sort of thing. How do I make an official "request," then? 'Cause I am really wanting this! |
If it helps: ProfitUI's pet window can be resized to hide all the buttons, and the pet dismiss button has been removed from the main row of buttons. And the window is matching the style of my target and implied target windows. :) No stand-alone download though.
