this morning I tried a few times to load the in game browser and it crashed eq2.. this is the error,could you help please. thank you
I changed my firewall to make an acception for awesomium_process.exe ...but it still crashes...


Maybe I did it wrong. I am using win7, perhaps someone can explain in detail how to make this acception.

Hi psychiea, sorry you're having trouble. I've given the new in-game browser a very heavy workout yesterday and today, and have not had any crashes at all. In fact, I'm writing this reply in-game using the new browser client. Depending on which anti-virus you are using, you may have better results excluding the entire EQII folder instead of just the awesomium executable.

There have been nearly 300 hits on the updater since yesterday so if there is a problem with the DarqUI browser, other players will be emailing and posting pretty soon.

Thanks for your response, your UI is awesome. I do like it a lot. I read your post and then turned off my firewall to see if it was that but i craashed again in game with my browser. Im gonna try and uninstall it and reinstall it. hope that works. Thanks for your hard work on this ui. many people like it and use it and that's because it's great !

its not your UI at all.. removed all of it and went into game and still crashed upon using the browser...*sigh** all started after the last update.. so until SOE gets it fixed i wont use it... i dont want to uninstall...any suggestions?

Psychiea, if the browser is the only item you're having trouble with, you should be okay to continue using your custom UI and simply stay away from the browser links on examine windows, target/implied target, active quest journal, XP bar and POI submit window if you use EQ2MAP. Those are the only places I can think of that invoke the in-game browser.

There is a thread on the official website with some players having similar problems. I could offer more help if I could get it to crash, but so far I haven't been able to do that. Have you ever installed any version of Google Chrome on your computer? And do you play EVE Online (which also uses the awesomium browser).

I am having problems with the update server, I try to update and it tells me that it cannot connect to update server and try again later. I have been trying for three days and get the same error. At one point I turned my firewall and still got the same error.

klaussca, the update server is currently pushing files, and I don't see any indication of a drop in service over the past 3 days. Make sure your utility is at least version 2.3, preferably v2.3.1. If you use a proxy server to get online, you will not be able to use the utility to get files.

Hi again,
One thing I noticed today was when I do a /loadui and choose Darqui it says vers 2.3.0. this might be the problem. Ive updated the updater a few times. I tried other UI's and really like your's the best. So any help would be so appreciated.
as far as the browser issue, ive added the awesomenss to firewall list, deleted mainhud window broswer but nothing is working .
I'm stuck going otu of game to use browser and i dont really like that.
I'm not sure if it's a sony thing.
This crazy thing started happening. My merc window keeps disappearing. *sigh*

The current DarqUI interface is indeed version 2.3 (or 2.3.0) so that's the correct number in the /loadui window. The window utility has been updated once since version 2.3 was released, which is why it is version 2.3.1.

Browser: The browser issue is affecting only a subset of players, and until the cause is determined those players who cannot use the in-game browser will need to use an external one. Aside from the suggestions presented on this page, there is no other advice I can offer.

Mercenary Window: If you log out with a character that does not have a mercenary, and then immediately log in with a character that has one, the Mercenary window won't always appear. In these cases there is a toggle button you can click on the Mercenary tab of the Persona window that will re-open it. This issue also works the other way around: if you log out to character select with a mercenary, and then switch immediately to a character that does not have one, you will get an extraneous window with the previous mercenary's name listed. You can close the unnecessary window using the same toggle button or by typing /togglemerc.

I am using version 2.3.1 and I don't use a proxy. It just gives me an error "cannot connect to update server, please try again in a few minutes."

I have not changed anything since the last time it worked and nothing I try lets me connect.

update: I was able to get it to update from a public WiFi, so I need to check my router settings and see what changed.

i'm downloading the exe file but nothing happens when I try to run it. what should I do?

1. Make sure you extract the .exe from the zip file and run it directly from someplace like the desktop, for example. The utility will open while still zipped but it will give you a lot of trouble.

2. Make an exception in your firewall/virus protection software for the utility.

3. Right-click and run the utility as an administrator.

4. If you are using 64-bit windows, the utility (which is 32-bit) can take over a minute to launch on some systems.

5. Close or minimize the other windows on your desktop especially when running the utility for the first time. The "Browse for UI folder" dialog box pops up first for the new user, and it doesn't have a taskbar button associated with it. So if it gets hidden behind another application it will be invisible until you move the other windows out of the way.

New to using this interface, and I love it. Couple of quick questions. Went and did my first raid with it on Sunday. The person I click on in the raid window isn't staying highlighted so when I look at the raid window I can't tell unless I look at my target window who I have targeted. How do I fix this? Next thing is I have the 5th slot for raid check marked but the fifth is not showing up on the raid window. I have tried extended the window out but it just goes back to default. I tried going to advanced and it still doesn't show. How do I get that 5th slot to show up? Help please.

Hi Areil, glad you're enjoying the interface. The highlight on the raid window is designed to show up only when you hover your mouse over that row, a bit like a spreadsheet. The reason the raider name doesn't stay highlighted is because of a game performance issue. To set the raider highlight requires checking all 24 raid slots for a match every time your target changes, which is a large resource cost for a relatively minor information gain. Polling the group window also uses resources but not nearly to the degree as the raid window, so the group window highlight stays lit.

The DarqUI raid window has four spell icons per raid slot, while the group window has five. The extra odd-colored line on the raid setup exists only to make it easier to import/export spell icons between the group and raid windows (for those who choose not to use the automatic setup). Only the first four spell icons will appear on the raid window, while all five appear in the group window. If you hover your mouse over the checkbox in the utility, you should see a paragraph of help text that explains this. (Although I am currently working on a feature that uses the archetype icons in the raid window.)


(Also, your raid window icon choices can be different from the group icons, so you can have up to 9 different targetable spells available at one time.)
