Yes it can easily be changed with a little text editing. Open notepad.exe and open the eq2ui_journals_inventory.xml file. On your notepad menu click edit, then find and type in "random" with or without quotes doesnt matter. It should find this section in the file:

First thing you will want to change is the OnPress="random 100" to OnPress="random 1000" then the 2 Random 1-100 you would to change so that the button and mouseover tooltips wont show the old random 100 stuff to Random 1-1000 or just Random 1000.

End result should be like this:

Now comes a very important step, click the Save (not save as button) and it will save properly. If you click Save As it is crucial that you save as "all files" and keep the .xml extension as it will often try to default it to a .txt file which would not work.

Just a warning that GU27 patch broke this mod (causes CTD aka crash to desktop).

Edit: SOE patched a fix to the game servers for the CTD bug with mods that use custom inventory slots like this one. I haven't verified/tested this mod since that new patch so I can't say for sure if the mod is working as-is or still needs a coding update. V2 is verified working so if you have CTD issues with this one till I have time to test and make some updates you may consider using it for now.
