Category: UtilitiesOne UI for all characters! |
In your main eq2 folder there are files representing every character you use. One of them follows the format of... servername_yourcharactersname_eq2_uisettings.ini ...This file has the location of all your UI windows/sizes/locked etc.
If you have more then one character (and less then 24) this excel file will let you enter all the names of your toons. It will give you the text to create a batch file to delete their old UI files and replace it with the perfect one. Once the batch file is created, just run it everytime you wish to update your ui window placememnts.
For those without excel, you could follow the same instructions in the screenshot and make your own batch file using these 3 lines (multiple times) for each character you have. Just replace "yourcharactersname"
copy temp.ini temp1.ini
del najena_yourcharactersname_eq2_uisettings.ini
rename temp1.ini najena_yourcharactersname_eq2_uisettings.ini
I'm sure some wiz kid could make a VB program to do the same thing that would be easier and quicker, but they didn't!

This thread is quite old, but just wanted to share how I do it! I use symlinks in windows to fool eq2 into using the same file for all characters.
- Take your favorite nagafen_<toon>_eq2_uisettings.xml inside your eq2 folder and rename it something like master_uisettings.xml
- Remove the *uisettings.xml file for the toons you want to configure to use the same file
- Run CMD (with admin rights) and browse to your eq2 folder
- Type "mklink <eq2dir\nagafen_<toon>_eq2_uisettings.xml> master_uisettings.xml", repeat for each toon
Example
mklink d:\eq2\nagafen_ratzer_eq2_uisettings.xml master_uisettings.xml
mklink d:\eq2\nagafen_ratzin_eq2_uisettings.xml master_uisettings.xml
In-game changes on ratzer or ratzin will be stored in master_uisettings.xml

Or, people can just edit the batch file or rename the files when they're done.

yep, putting quotes around filepath/filenames will fix the space problem.
ie
rename "temp1.ini" "antonia bayle_yourcharactersname_eq2_uisettings.ini"

Depends how many charcaters you might play.
You only have to make the Batch file once. For all future uses it is just a single click to reset up to 24 characters to the same UI settings.
