Help!! Can't get my new window to work

I'm working hard at being lazy. I've been trying to modify the eq2ui_playerhousing_omnihouse.xml so that it will fill in the filter with the name of a character that I have saved to a file.

I've gotten everything working except it actually inserting the text to the filter window.

Could someone better than I look at this and try to fix it?
