Hopefully, I'm just missing something obvious, but the updater won't launch EQ2. The "autolaunch" option won't stay checked, and even when I try to launch the game manually from the updater (after making sure, of course, that it knows where to find the EQ2.exe file), I get an error message....
-- Darryl
Follow-up: I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried both autolaunch and autolaunch 2, set to default, set to eq2.exe, and (just for the hell of it) set to everquest2.exe. The updater downloads updated map files just fine, but absolutely refuses to launch EQ2, either automatically or manually.

I'm likeing it so far, but as with the .97 version it takes a long time to refresh, other than that, everything seems to work.
my only suggestion would be to add a split cell on the news window to add EQ2 patch notes.
or maybe even a option to "patch EQ2 from MapPatcher" but I doubt SOE would go for that.

I deleted my eq2.ini before I ran the launcher to see if it would do proper setup. I did not uninstall the previous version of the updater, just overwrote it. Updater seems to be updating the files and setting up the proper .ini in the EQ2 folder just fine.
While the map files were being pulled off the server, I went in and double checked that the options were pointing toward the everquest2 folder. And the autolaunch was pointing at the eq2.exe.
First thing I noticed was the autolaunch 2 setting was not retaining it's checkoff if you closed the program, and re-started it.
Second bug was the same thing that DBurgdorf had. It just won't launch the eq2 executable no matter what I point it at.
I'm running this on Windows XP Home off my laptop. I'll try again in a bit on the XP Pro PC.
Oh, and btw, my Everquest folder is set up in a non-default location. (D:\EverQuest II) in case that might help.
No-go on the main PC either. Deleted all references of the old EQ2map updater on my system prior to installing. Let the updater find my eq2.ini and it pointed to the proper modded UI folder to install in.
The log file contains nothing of any help. It was empty after receiving the error messages about not being able to launch the eq2 client. Looking at the options file, don't really see anything wrong. I'd like to see a greyed out box on the option menu actually listing the full path to the autolaunch1 and 2 files.

thankyou all for the replies.
i have fixed all bugs as well as added the thing to show the full autolaunch path. i also added the checkboxed for autolanch to the main screen so you can easily stop it if you dont want it to autolaunch.
just redownload it from the same link that was in the private message and then let me know it it fixed all the bugs.
Thanks again for helping me test this, and these bugs and suggestions are the reason why it helps so much.
I should add that the way file2 is supposed to work is if the box is checked it will open that when you either click open eq2 or when autolaunch happens.

Most of the launching probs seem fixed.
Main window needs to be non-resizalbe.
When using the "Open EQ" button on the main page, EQMap doesn't close itself like it does when it autoruns.
Thinking that the fields for prog1 and prog2 maybe should be editable? I initially went right for em to change thier contents then noticed the button at the bottom... Maybe remove the buttons at the bottom and replace them with [...] or [Browse] buttons next to the fields.
If you try to run more than 1 instance of EQMap it tells you only one instance can run at a time, then continues to load the second, third, etc instance anyway.
I have not tested launching a second prog yet... will do that tomorrow since it's 2am
Hope this was helpful!

It seems to set autolaunch "ON" even if it was not on in previous versions. Was a bit surprised when eq2 suddenly launched when I didn't tell it to :-)

ok the "Cannot access a disposed object named "Options"." error should be fixed, and when you click the download all files button it should start the download automatically. i will be adding a way to stop the downloader from downloading when its not finished, and possibly a way to switch the ui directory it is in tonight.

Not sure if this is an issue:
If you open the options page, and update finishes, with auto launch enabled EQ loads in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... program closes. Even if you are selecting and changing options. Maybe autolaunch should be disabled during that session (but not saved) if it fires when options window is open?
In fact, I think the countdown should abort if any of the buttons are pushed while it's counting or if the options window is open.
Still resizeable btw.

are you sure? it asks every time for me that it wants to overwrite it when the box is checked.
how are you testing it? if you are just deleting the file and running the updater its not overwriting it (because the file isnt there so it cant overwrite it) it should only be asking when it is actually truly overwriting the file. if you want to test it, open up eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml in notepad change it, save it and then run the updater.

its resizeable because some people run at a dpi other than the standard 96, so the whole thing wont show up and they need to be able to resize it to fit thier dpi.
