A lot of people are saying that Nov. 15th-17th are the release dates that you'll start seeing it in stores. Nothing is confirmed though, as the devs are just saying "2004" as a release date. Game stores always have a few wrong release dates - take Doom III for example.

From what I hear, it will run pretty good. I have the Starter Disk and it runs well on my system which is considerably worse in specs than yours (besides maybe the vid card) and it runs great. I wouldn't expect to have to upgrade that system just yet to accomodate EQ II.

There always has been in the past. I would put platinum on it that there is this time around as well.

The rest of your system stats look good, but this one is a big question mark. Your card could do great or it could be a piece of junk not worthy of the various heaps that litter Blackburrow.
To check what graphics card you have, click Start, click Run, and type
dxdiag
and click OK. Click on the Display tab and check the Name under Device. Should say "Radeon XXXX". If the XXXX is less than 9600, you should consider upgrading the graphics card. Post the name here and we should be able to tell you how badly you need to or whether you're good with what you have.

I highly doubt he needs to upgrade.
Unless of course he wants the ultimate game experience... in which case we're all screwed because no one should have a computer able to handle EQ2 at full specs. They built it that way on purpose, so like our machines, it will grow with the times. I personally admire their decision to do that.

I doubt he -needs- to upgrade either, but the details on his video card do leave a little room for worry, because, if I'm not mistaken, that could date back to a 9200.

I believe they started making the 8500 with 128 megs of vid ram.
While the 8500 could run it... I would definatly not suggest it.

Just Curious aswell
1.My computer uhhh barely makes the system specs... most of the time. I have
1ghz AMD Athalon 950mhz at times
512 MB SDR RAM
128 MB GeForce FX 5200 video card
40 GB Hardrive (Thats all i know for now)
And some sound card that plays everything well to date I will probably update it when i get home...
2. Also still if you pre-order EQ2 will you get the Character Creation Disc so you can marvel at the Extreme Character models EQ2 has to offer?

The computer I'm on right now has recently been upgraded to fairly decent specs...
P4 3.0 ghz
1278mb DDR 2700
Radeon 9800 Pro 128 mb
... on the other hand, this is my sibling's computer, just never had enough motivation to buy my own, but EQ2 is changing that... so, in either 2 or 3 weeks I'll be ordering the parts for my new build... most of it, I'm sure on, just can't decide whether I want to go Intel or Athlon. >.>

Ecstasia -- the proc you use matters very little unless you want to go completely hardcore which will probably cost you an extra $200 for bleeding edge tech. HARDLY worth it for someone who just wants to run EQ decently or at good capabilities.
My comp runs on
Processor:
AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-53 Processor with HyperTransport Technology Motherboard:
ASUS A8V Deluxe - VIA K8T800 Pro Motherboard
Memory:
1GB Extreme Dual Channel DDR PC-3200 SDRAM at 400MHz - 2 x 512MB
Video Card:
NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra (256mb)
System Drive: Extreme Performance - Serial ATA RAID 0 - 73.4GB (36.7GB x 2) Western Digital Raptor™ 10,000 RPM
I'm garunteed a good performance. But as SOE said, probably no system thats out right now could run the game at full specs and not struggle a bit.
You just want something that meets the recommended specs and runs the game comfortably.

Yeah, I know, but I've been recommended AMD, and see a lot of people using it so I'm curious. ^^;
... on the other hand, I'm familiar with installing Intel, and not sure if I'll want to have that old feeling of "Did I install this right?" running through my mind before I push the power button. =P

The latest P4's seem to be running faster over all as of late. I dont agree with some of the reviews I've been reading. My friend runs a P4 and as I stated I'm on a AMD FX. Both our chips are still cutting edge but his seems to run slightly faster on frame rates than mine. But again, like I said... getting those cutting edge procs is like 200 dollars difference. Hardly worth it. Especially since when we did 3D Mark testing his score was only 300-400 points higher. Hardly any difference or even something noticable in game.

Just wondering...
Would a Ati Radeon 9600 SE graphics card be good for EQ2? If not, what would be a cheap graphics card that would run it fairly well?
