Right click the xp bar and choose Window Settings. In the dropdown list choose Frame and Titlebar. Then make sure the sliders are set so you can see the new "L" button either when you mouse over or all the time. That should take care of the L button issue.
If you'd prefer to have an EQ2 button next to the XP bar, go grab my
Fetish XP Bar/EQII Button add-on.
Either should work for you. Hope that helps.
