I have two thoughts on this
1) You prob just need to repoint tthe EQ2 map updater to your patcher (if you use the station launcher , point it to that)
2) a recent prob has popped up for folks since the last patch affecting the map background.. it varies from a blank cyan screen with floating icons to a regular map with lines or checkboards... here is the link for that.. you may want to take a look at it..
