that happened to me a few days ago. I went and re-downloaded the updated from updater.pala.de
It did the same thing
I triple checked my install directory. I even went so far as to check the preferences in the eq2 icon on the desktop to see where it was trying to load the application. I went to that directory to verify that it was there.
Still had the same issues. This was all on my second box that has been turned off for a few weeks (the main box had no issues). I simply gave up because no matter what I tried, I had that same error.
Then after a cup of coffee, I hit the updater icon again, and it worked! I think that there might have been a reboot during the coffee break (was getting frustrated so I dont exactly recall the little details).
So the problem is fixed, but I am not sure why it was broke or what exactly I might have fixed.
