What's odd is that mine does show the time on an item if the other requierments are mad: example

I have a cloak with a clicky effect on it, the rest of it is bad, so, I got 2 hotkeys to swap in the cloak, and another to swap in my good one, and a 3rd to use what ever is in "back" slot of my inventory

I can swap in the clicky cloak, use the cloak, swap in my good cloak, and swap back in the click cloak and the timer shows..

might be a good time for a UI re-install, or a through file check on EQ2
